Here's Number 9: When it comes to car dealership business culture they outsource their IT to some local IT management service, this IT management often includes the VOIP phone system and the WiFi in addition to IT help desk support for both the sales staff computers and management's computers:
The IT company most often uses a script called HTTP Guard
this script/ service blocks/ prevents sales staff from going to Facebook, blocks access to Twitter and blocks access any form of blogs, to make matters worse, the car dealership service department mechanics cannot even visit online databases to fix some cars that are brought to the service department.

The company culture maintains this status quo, no one within the car dealership has enough IT confidence to challenge the IT company
The IT company leaves those HTTP Guard settings blocking pretty much anything and everything for the sole reason that it makes their life easier ( the IT department of any organization considers Marketing to be someone elses job, this is true for in house IT departments and outsourced IT services)

Business blogging, (or Web2.0 marketing) IS IT
the IT folks wont accept that, the problem is the distinctions between SEO and social media marketing have blurred.. combined, it's pretty much impossible to do one without also doing the other
And both social media marketing and search engine optimization are also within the realm of IT

This particular problem is one of protection of turf:
the IT folks refuse to accept that digital marketing requires that they be subservient to the SEO staff.

Everyone involved is protecting their turf, the budget is so slim... no one is willing to accommodate the needs of another department.. (not my yob)

Now that sounds pretty freakin cool
I just spent the entire day posting videos to video hosting sites, one of them, vimeo if memory serves (and it might not seeing as I'm dain bread from 12 hrs straight posting for SEO backlinks)

Facebook only specials, now I'd not thought of that.

I'm struggling with the myriad choices, it appears I should be selecting a musicians style page or maybe a public figure page, because I just don't see the tabs available that you speak of with a professional services page.

Sorry that googlemaps/ youtube thing didn't work out, the Real Estate agent I was going to sell it to went out of business.

Once again Mike provided useful info I did not know (and NEEDED to know)

so I can tell my readers 2 things now: It's not too late for them to get their name on facebook and ditch the ugly long profile number based url AND if they picked a stupid name facebook is offering a "Do Over"?
