That's really scary. We had a pro-Israel speech given by our state legislators here in New Mexico and it was truly concerning the loud angry protestors outside the capitol building doors. The only thing that made me feel safe running the gauntlet was the lineup of well armed state cops just inside the capitol doors.

No word exemplifies this trend more than the abuse of ‘massive’. The word is so ubiquitous that using it in the context of physics is confusing to people. We have essentially rendered superlatives meaningless by turning them into clickbait.

You are wrong. Cannabis is much less harmful than alcohol. Somehow New Mexicans are financially able to purchase all the alcohol they need, most of which comes from out-of-state. In addition, you must not have driven in Washington or Colorado, states where it has been legal for years. You would find that cannabis impaired drivers typically drive much slower than need be, and are unusually hesitant at intersections. So they may not be great drivers, but at least they're safer than alcoholics.

Manhattan in a wheelchair is a disappointing experience. Parking for my wheelchair van was nonexistent. Curb cuts are full of dangerous ruts and grimy gutter slop that you can't get around. Sidewalks are buckled up from tree roots and blocked by basement hatches or piles of garbage and/or cardboard. The police and bus drivers will berate you for being unable to navigate. Large mean dogs held back by puny women will bark and one even bit me while rolling in my wheelchair, and the police didn't even care. It all happened to me in the most wheelchair unfriendly city I have ever visited.

Compelling logic, cogently and humorously argued. I would just emphasize that the original Saxons were from the southeast of Germany, with the Slavic speakers dwelling immediately to their east. More contrarian etymologies please!

I tried to log in on my usual browser but was rejected (AGAIN!!!). The photos were all so grainy I could not see a bus or car which apparently was well concealed among the compressed pixels. Disqus fails the Turing Test.

I tried to login again (on my usual browser) but gave up after the 3ᴿᴰ captcha. The captcha doesn't tell me if I answered them right or wrong, it just keeps on throwing captchas at me. I'm pretty sure I know what a bicycle and a crosswalk is. Shouldn't software know after three captchas that I am not a robot? Because three captchas is about the limit of my patience. I will simply quit using this website rather than do stupid unending tricks, so let that be a warning. And most people who get locked out don't have the opportunity to say this, because they are not logged in to another browser.

I would suspect that a giant magma chamber under that area caused constant boiling water and that is where all the river inflow went.

Good theory, makes sense! It may be that certain cultures were more aware of the ability and exploited it, like the Vikings who navigated the open seas in small boats. In that case, the captain may have been the one with flawless inner navigation.
