I don't see you do much on blogging platforms though. Will you stick with WordPress for ever? I'd like to pimp the My Opera community if I may - it seems to be invisible to the world at large. A newbie, Blogr, seems good too. But talk about a saturated market...

Not thinking of running a redesign comp? Dude, if someone offered me a billion for my soul, it'd be packaged with a ribbon on it before the ink was dry on the contract. A web app would be easy to let go. That's reality right?

As a user, Facebook has really grown on me in the last couple of weeks. I've added a few friends which helps, but the Killer App is the apps. I want Facebook to be the centre of my online world - it isn't yet, but it could be. Bring my blog, Gmail, Flickr and all the other accounts I have out there into an interactive one screen package, where I can manage and operate it all. That would be cool.

Re: Why no hype for hi5?

The ads on Hi5 go beyond intrusive. Every other time you refresh a page an ad blocks half the screen, forcing you to close it to see what you want to see.

It also seems to be 'over customisable'. Usually, on a blog or network or whatever, you have set professional looking themes, or it's customisable only by people who know what they're up to, be it CSS or whatever.

Hi5 has the unenviable ability to turn a profile into the most hideously monstrous looking page in less than a minute. They're often unreadable.

It is the most popular network in Latin America though, or so I'm led to believe. Which is where I am - but I'll stay 'unpopular' and stick with Facebook.

Re: Microsoft copies Google

I can't take Google or Microsoft bus rides, let alone use the WiFi. Al Zarqawi was not in Iraq prior to 9/11, and when he did go there prior to the invasion, he set up in the North, out of Saddam's reach.

Having a son in the Marines, serving in Iraq does not change that. What has happened since 9/11 was not a cause of 9/11. Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11, and it's unfortunate that some people have swallowed that lie in the face of the evidence. Dead wrong? Because of that lie, hundreds of thousands are now dead, full stop.

Re: My rock star: Rocky

How is the Nikon, aside from the WiFi? Google on the other hand has (at least been accused of) operating in a way that could be thought of as a little evil. Nasty at the very least.

I've just signed up and done a few posts for PPP. Still awaiting approval; crossed fingers. You know, an ad is an ad, regardless of whether it's Adsense, a paid banner or a post. It should be clearly labelled for what it is though.

I have Adsense running on one of my blogs. I have no say in what is advertised. I'm sure many ads are of a dubious nature.

I have PPP on my other blog - I can choose what I advertise, and have a little fun creating the post. What's the big deal?

Well...the disclosure is the big deal. I must confess, I have just done an post for an advertiser who requests no in post disclosure - which I have put on the other paid posts.

I live on a pretty low wage, with little hope of getting the Nikon D40x DSLR. Unless PPP comes through for me. I'm as greedy as the next person. I did the ad. It pays a good price. I want that camera. I'm prepared to whore my blog - just a little, if I have to. I've promised myself not to do it again, but I'm pretty sure if the money is right, I'll do it again. I want that camera.

But Ted, I really don't want to 'have to'. If Social Spark sorts out the disclosure issue, then all well and good. But PPP needs to be more than just transparent with a site disclosure in a hidden page buried deep in a blog, with a little sidebar button. It needs to be whiter than white.

Personally, I can't hate anything that might get me closer to that camera. I hope PPP develops into an accepted form of advertising with a model that is 100% ethical.

Re: Having fun in London

I'm jealous. I don't like paying for things if I don't have too. I'm very tight! Blogger is, I think, the only free platform that permits javascript which means I can do almost anything I want on it. I do wish they'd sort the Admin out though. WP, as you say, has Blogger licked there. Bloggers standard comments system is ghastly too, but thats to a little bit of script I have DisQus installed. Which works just great.

Btw, MyOpera worked out very nicely for me in the end. I whored it with PayPerPost ads!
