Glad you want to help - You're awesome :) While several of these organizations are faith-based, they serve and receive help from all kinds of people. Because about half of the Voluntary Agencies (VOLAGs) that resettle refugees in US are faith-based, you'll see that theme pop up a lot in volunteer opportunities as well. Having worked in that sector for a few years, I can assure that most agencies will accept help wherever they can get it.

If you'd feel more comfortable with a local organization that isn't faith-based, though, I'd encourage you to check out the Nashville International Center for Empowerment and TFLI's ESL-to-go program.

Hope that helps!

Re: Coming Soon: Every Single Brewery In Nashville

Ah, we love that one! And then I was like, "Oh, I can't share anymore so I'll leave a Reader comment. Oh, I can't leave a reader comment anymore so... ah, fuck it. I'll just do this the old-fashioned way."

So anyway, +1.

Re: Bright & Early: Won’t You Be His Neighbor Edition

Good catch! That, I understand. But ten days!? And they're also proposing a fee to turn it back on once it's been shut off. I'm all about people paying their bills on time, but that's just kicking people while they're down.

Re: Happy Hour: 615 No More

Yeah, I got used to the 10-digit dialing after living in Nashville for four years with a 757 area code.
