Given the Next Gen has become the Current Gen it's a great time to draw a line, as we are yet to buy either of the new consoles. It's nice to have something of a cut of point. I can easily not buy a new game that is also available on XBOX One or PS4 until we have either console. That leaves me with a more finite number of games on 360 and PS3 to march through. In some ways the new gen has rekindled my interest in the recently past gen. And frankly, I'm having more fun that I have in the past few years of trying to keep up with the rush of the new!

Re: Denmark: Bornholm, a Danish paradise

As an Englishman who now lives on Bronholm (since June 2012) I would like to thank you for this wonderful write up I can share with friends and family who have yet to come and visit us on this most peaceful and indeed hyggelige of islands :)

Re: LucasFilm Shows Off The Future Of Film Making

Film is just a way to capture an actors performance, this is another. They are in essence the same thing. You still need an actor to put in the performance. You could still have the actors own face captured as was done in LA Noire. It mearly saves them the hours sitting in makeup chairs getting suits and facial prosthetics attached. Not sure how they would go in for a kiss with those headsets though ;)

Re: Bliss Manifesto - Like mother, like daughter. Holding onto the Wii name doesn't suggest they want to get back in touch with their gaming fans, more they just want to stay with the family friendly output. Curious.

Re: FGTVLive 1.4: Mass Effect 3 360 Review | Audio Gamer

I imagine it going in cycles, were the majority strive to a perfect form, before there is a retro action where it's cool to look as imperfect as possible. After all these are people already happy to augment their bodies with Biotics to extend their abilities, the ability to choose ones physical appearance probably seems as obvious and mundane to them as choosing the clothes we wear is to us.
I say this as an heavily overweight male, who has no issues with games portraying idealised male forms. So yes, I guess it does have 'stereotypical' body shapes, but they are quite in context I would argue.

Re: Molyneux ready to leave retail behind

There is definitely an undercurrent of creating smaller more focused gaming experiences, but to make that profitable a more direct sales approach where more money from a unit sales goes into the developers pocket is required. It's certainly a more exciting area to work and play in. I look forward to seeing what comes out of this indie resurgence, even if it doesn't effect the mainstream for a couple of years yet.

Re: [Weekend Poll] Do You Own An Android Tablet?

Still rocking the original Xoom WiFI here, patiently waiting for that ICS update to hit the UK :/

Re: Google Play no longer displays third-party apps

I've spent close to £100 on app and games I do like. The physical delivery systems for the next generation will just be alternatives to downloading the games from Live/PSN for those with poor/no broardband. Once loaded onto the system they will act like a digital download, and thus locked to your account. This is actually a more convenient system for me, living with a gaming wife we have 2 systems, so being able to play games based on our own accounts without having to always be on the same physical box is good. People say they won;t go for this blocking of pre-owned as it will upset retail outlets, but who do you think they care more about upsetting? Retail outlets or Game Producers? There will always be some stores willing to stock whatever memory cards the games are delivered on even if others tried to boycot them.

Re: How & Why To Use TVersity As An Alternative Media Server With Your Xbox 360

I use Serviio. Very smiler setup really. Can tell it what each device is, if it doesn't auto detect so it knows when it needs to transcode. Works flawlessly with both 360 and PS3, and more importantly for me with both of our Samsung TVs. One over RJ45 the newer set wirelessly. Interface is less fancy than TVersity, more utilitarian, but I prefer that for the server side of things.

Re: Why Websites With Dark Backgrounds Completely Suck [Opinion]

I don't think you can generalise so much. Most light on dark and dark on light can work so long as it is well designed. What it may be is that people without good design skills try to hide it by making things different to the norm, and hence a larger proportion of light on dark sites look bad compared to dark on light. But good design is subtler than that.
For instance anyone creating a photography site is going to go for a dark background as it is a long established fact that you can appreciate the content of a photo far better when there is not a distracting light screen around what you are looking at.
Personally, when I have a site with a long article for reading on I do one of too things. I either load it via Readability using my own preference of reading colours which tends to be off-white on a dark grey background or I send it to my Kindle.
I think perhaps we jumped to white sites with black text because it was comfortable to read on older displays, but with the every increasing contrast ratios available on a modern screen, the whites have become so white as to be almost painful in large use. Hence sites like MUO having a textured background to take the edge off that whiteness.

Re: Why The Campaign Against Piracy Is A Farce [Opinion]

I agree that is is wasting money that could be put to better use and is really not going to help anything. But the only reason they see this need is that so many people do it because it has become so accepted. If 90%+ of people didn't do it because they found it morally unacceptable, then it wouldn't be seen as a major threat (real or perceived) to these companies and they wouldn't bother spending so much time and effort upon it. We, the tech savey public, as a whole have brought this upon ourselves. We never would have had to put up with over zealous DRM solutions, or other protective measures that push up the cost of each item and create serious headaches for those who try to follow the 'right' road.
I guess what I am saying is, if you don't like the way these companies try to deal with piracy then help to stop piracy itself, then they won't have a need to do so.
Anti-piracy is a symptom not the problem itself.
