I gather from this post that Christie Blatchford believes that journalists aren't entitled to have opinions. If I am to write the facts (or what I believe to be the facts) for a newspaper - then why do I feel the need to write a blog on my opinions?

Blog - this happened and here is how I feel about it

That's the difference. Funnily enough, I am able to read someone's opinions and still feel the need to have my own, whether I agree OR disagree with the blog in question.
For example, Danny here has chosen to write his views on blogging and journalism - I can decide how I feel about it without getting angry or accusing him of inflammatory persuasion.
I take his opinion at face value - and I definitely don't need to get all hostile about it.

All I ask is that you read with an open mind. The series is incredible but it might not appeal to you directly.

When in doubt, check out the movie on Nov 21 - that might entice you to read the books :)

LOL there are a few things I would change given the opportunity for re-write... Just like "The Village" by M Knight Shmamalamam - that movie was horrible - i actually stood up in the theatre and said "SOMEONE JUST DIE ALREADY"

Well i have a list of classics - almost one hundred in my ereader. It will take me EONS to get through them all - but i'm hoping they're better than this. I even have other stories by Henry James... we shall see

Obviously I disagree with that last comment - a spoof (specifically by amateurs) is usually not made with best intentions for love of the book or movie. It's a poor form of dogging it.

I wrote a review on all four books in the Twilight series should you like to peruse the site a bit :)

Basically it's a book series (written by Stephenie Meyer) that has swept nations far and wide and everyone is highly anticipating the motion picture set to release on November 21st in North America. Because of this the new Harry Potter film was pushed back to summer of 2009.

I believe the Twilight film has already been released in some countries in Europe, like Italy - but I can't be too sure.

Hi Natalia!

That's exactly what happened to me. It was recommended to me several times so I read it. But I was so embarrased to be reading this book in public. At least two thirds of the book is just about sex.

Book 2 is not nearly as sexual - but there are still some heavy duty sexual scenes. I'll be writing this review later today hopefully.

I guess I slightly disagree with Humby as I have my own personal blog that can be described to the party analogy, and I also have my virtual book club - but I don't consider that writing, nor do I consider myself a writer. Though, I believe that there are some people who have read both of my sites and would disagree with me.

I do think that Worldofhiglet has a point though - all blogging is writing but not all writing is blogging. My husband is able to do both blogging and writing, and he excels. Me on the other hand, blogging I can do with my eyes closed as I feel it's more of an opinion. Similar to writing a book review, it's done in the format of stating what the book is about, followed by my opinion of it.

But if you give me a blank page and tell me to write a story - I panic and draw blanks. And THAT is why I don't believe that I am a writer.

Hello all! It appears I have a fan club :) And here I was waiting to read a whole bunch of "you are a complete idiot" comments, lol - which is probably true...

But here is my point. I know that these things work when used appropriately. Everyone knows my husband. If you haven't heard of Danny Brown, then you are not reading this. BUT as socially awesome as he is, he never has to leave the house.

What is this world coming to, when my husband, Mr. Social Butterfly, has more pairs of pajamas then jeans?

And someone recently invited me to get LinkedIn - ahem... DELETE

I'm glad you follow my rants and blogs, it makes them worth it. You'll probably see me on Twitter soon. I'll eventually crack and want to figure out what it means to be "tweeted" but it will be a long time from now. I probably received 30 Facebook requests before i caved and joined. But I'm very basic on Facebook. No need for groups or albums or applications... no patience, no time.

I'm not sure why these books are banned or who bans them. I can only assume it's for religious reasons. The Da Vinci Code and The Golden Compass series for example, have huge religious undertones. The way I see it though, is that if your religion is the true one, then you would have no doubts or questions, and would take these books for what they are - stories.

Give your opinion. Tell everyone why you hate the book... but is banning it really necessary?
