That used to be the case, but that only applies if studios are willing to spend any of their earnings on those small movies. Which does not happen nearly so much any more.

It's not so much "art films" that can't find an audience because those were always niche films. It's non-franchise films and medium budget movies that have been squeezed out.

I would suggest that what leaves people open to being accused of trying to be too cool for something is making statements without substance.

"I don't like X and I never did" isn't an interesting observation. It provides no insight and serves no obvious function, nor does it really leave any room for discussion. Might as well say "I don't like cabbage" for all the conversational value it brings. The only reason I can see to make that statement is to mark yourself out as in some way different to the herd.

It's entirely possible to just not like something without making not liking it a thing in and of itself.

And perhaps most importantly of all it is possible to build up the things you like without tearing down other things in the process.

And why say it's not about bashing the show for the sake of bashing the show? Because you did nothing else in this opinion piece. If you actually want to get people to appreciate other shows... talk about them.

I've always found the reaction to Rob Liefeld to be weirdly personal. He's certainly done some stuff in his time that earned criticism but there's almost a glee to the way people fall on his every statement and something close to malice in the tone of the comments which I find odd considering most don't actually know him personally at all.

No he cancelled his subscription and wanted a pro-rated refund. That is a refund for the rest of the year which he will no longer have access to the library for anyway.

Also he was told that it wasn't a temporary hitch and the stuff couldn't be recovered. And, the support here was pretty slow and shoddy. Two weeks just to tell him "oops, can't fix that" and only then with him prodding them for a response at all.

Not sure that I personally would cancel over that, but he's well within his rights to do so.

They are popular casual viewing. The stuff you don't have to think much about. I think they will probably do well on any service. That doesn't mean people will subscribe or unsubscribe based on their presence though.

Socially, geographically and historical inaccurate for sure.

Which I can live with, but the unforgivable sin is I found show boring. I think I made it through episode four and then just never watched ther est.

I'm not sure it's that surprising. The BBC and Chibnall have been extremely tight lipped on everything regarding this show. Plus those rumors mostly seem to be people copying and pasting from the same unsourced report.

I think you're assuming a level of coordination between all the different people answering interview questions that doesn't actually exist. To me it reads like a bunch of people giving their opinions.

Jodie Whitaker's take on the situation is likely not exactly the same as Chris Chibnall's which in turn is not the same as random BBC executive #4.

Also she didn't say it was irrelevant. She said (basically) it was irrelevant to her ability to play the role and the characterization.
