Thank you for the article. I had a couple of hiccups migrating from 3x to 4x, then I found your post which helped me greatly. This was the bug I was having was var MongoStore = require('connect-mongo')(express); needed to be replaced by var MongoStore = require('connect-mongo')({session: session}); - This is a hack, but it's a hack that ended my frustration in the end.
