I am roasting some fennel right now as I type this. I have ‘top and tailed’ it, and then cut it vertically into slices. I’ve put it in a bowl, drizzled olive oil on it, and also balsamic vinegar. I’m cooking it in a 400° (205oven, for about 40/45 minutes, and then serve along with some chicken and carrots and roast potatoes.

I’m in the UK, but I didn’t really use my Apple Watch to pay until Covid happened. Then my phone wouldn’t recognise my face with a mask on, so I had to keep typing in my passcode. I started using the Watch to pay, and I’ve never stopped.

Some time back, there was a scam going on at some high-end London restaurant, where the customers were giving their card for payment and the cards were being cloned in a few seconds, and because the card was out of sight for a minute of two (before the wireless terminals you mention) no-one knew, unltil it was too late. As tit was a high end venue involved the cloned cards tended to have a high credit limit.

Just about everywhere has those wireless terminals now. Many pubs have them at the bar, so when you go to the bar to order drinks, you pay as you go, right here.

My cards never leave my sight these days.

In discussions about sleep one thing I never see mentioned is shift work. I read about getting into a routine; heading for bed at the same time each night, but for me that's impossible.

I could have to get up as early as 3am. I could be working as late as almost 2am. No way can I setyle into a routine.

Register your card online, and you can check your balance. That way you wouldn't get caught out. You can then also top up online.

In other cities around the world cashless is already the norm. It's just making sure there are more outlets open more hours.

Jamie, with regard to impatience on the road I see it all the time. One thing buses and bicycles have in common is the impatient types will put everyone else in danger to get around them.

As for your complaint about cycle lanes being full of obstacles, I do know a few lanes that are perfectly clear, but still not used by a sizeable of cyclists. Also, those cycle lanes that are obstructed need to have this issue addressed. There's no point trying to segregate traffic to make things safer, if it's not used!

Personally, I don't have an issue with Lycra, I'm just making an observation at a location I pass very regularly.

As a bus driver, my observations are that whilst the fact majority of cyclists are sensible, there are a significant minority that act like they don't care for their own safety.

Riding at night with no lights. A front light is just as important, as once I pass a cyclist with no front light, the shadow cast by the bus can make it very difficult to see where they are, so I can pull back in safely.

I see many riding with headsets on. Can they hear what's going on around them?

Some cyclists pull out of side roads without even looking to see what is coming. If I have to brake really hard, I could end up with injured passengers.

Also, I simply don't understand why some cyclists ( and usually they're in Lycra) feel its beneath them to use a well marked, segregated, cycle lane when one is available. Its far safer, and of course, doesn't hold up motorised road users, some of whom very quickly get impatient.

I have Facebook, and I do post things on it, including photos. However, I'm quite capable of deciding what I want to share and what I don't. Some people don't seem to think about what they're doing, and also we've all got different boundaries in any case.

I guess she wonders why a perfectly innocent picture got so much attention from her employer. She's not exposing anything, and the guy is her fiancé. I would wonder the same thing, and, if that was an image of my wife and I, I'd have probably posted it without a second thought.

I missed British Bacon and Sausages, and good cheese, but none of the other stuff. I also missed good fish and chips.

However, there was much other foods to try, and now I'm back in England, I miss those!

I do agree regarding the data plans. It depends on one's usage of course. I don't watch video on my phone much at all, but I do listen to Spotify, and use email and social networks, and I take a fair few photos, and use Dropbox Sync. That means 1 or 2GB data plans are just crap for me, regardless of cost, Id' run out in a few days.

Of course it all depends where you spend most of your time. I switched to Three, and find the coverage around here (West London) better than T-Mobile. I rarely make phone calls, and use data mostly, and that holds up here better than T-Mobile did.
