What are you guys planning for "blogs" in the main menu? Here the best bet is to ad somekind of RSS reader, just google for RSS aggregator for the solution.

Re: the ipad inquisition

hi all.

I have many thoughts on this new content platform.

My first love affair with computers (macs) was with the DTP (desktop publishing) revolution in the late 80's. I remember that suddenly a bunch of my friends had Macs and PageMaker, this kind of reminded me of the fanzine revolution that i lived 10 years earlier (fuck, this makes me feel old...).

Then came the Web, we were a few, it was hard and expensive to build websites. Until blogger came along, an open the door to the media world as we know it were anybody can publish, comment, vote, tag on a map, etc.

And here we are again, a new turning point in the road, the Ipad.

Its important to note that making and pushing content to this device is hard and controlled by Apple.

So, here are my thoughts (finally):

Social. Not as in social web. At home I have several computers, and at parties lots of the human interactions we have at these parties revolve somehow or another around the computer screens: listen to a song, watch this or that video, look a website, check out this article. I think the iPad will play an important part in how we view content when in a group.

That said, think board games. I think this will be huge! Have you seen Scrabble? So imagine playing Monopoly or Risk with one of these devices and a group of friends.

Publishing. I recommend Popular Science and Marvel. PopSci is really trying to take advantage of this new media, as other magazines try to replicate their printed version. Look at the WSJ, trying to imitate the look and feel of the paper version. And marvel! wow this looks to cool, could the iPad bring back the comix as a serious art form as it is treated in France? I do hope so!

TV. The ABC app looks awesome. I am sure that television (video) will be a big part of the content that will be consumed by the iPad users. Especially when the iPad will have no problems connecting to a flat screen in the living room and the internet. MTV talks about the iPad being a platform for "co-viewing", meaning watching shows with all your network friends.

Kids. I think my five year old son would love the iPad. These devices will be the books for that generation, making learning lots of fun, since they will be able to drill down on the info in front of them.

(note i have no iPad, I have been able to see a couple of them. You can always go to YouTube and watch lots of videos there, I recommend the Ipad cat video and the toddler iPad video).

Re: http://1982.tumblr.com/post/543229909

hola,

Re: Bull Pens

The future looks so fun!

I agree with you. Steal from anywhere that resonates with inspiration or fuels your imagination. Devour old films, new films, music, books, paintings, photos, poems, dreams, random conversations, architecture, bridges, street signs, trees, clouds, bodies of water, light and shadows. Select only things to steal from that speak directly to your soul. If you do this, your work (and theft) will be authentic. Authenticity is invaluable; originality is non-existent. And don’t bother concealing your thievery—celebrate it if you feel like it. In any case, always remember what Jean-Luc Godard said: ‘It’s not where you take things from—it’s where you take them to.”

Re: Bull Pens

Gunnar,

Look at what Apple released today: iAd, part of iPhone 4.

Sounds super geil!

Here is the link

Re: Bull Pens

This morning i was reading this article and I imagined Facebook creating their own currency.

This would make Facebook the second virtual nation, after Second Life (does it still exist?)

Re: Bull Pens

Hi Gunnar.

Agree, mobile is here to stay. Both important, Google be no evil motto, and how the Social Web is now part of our lives.

Lets start with Google and China.

I am a fan of Google, sure, they are becoming the mega corp that I have always feared, sure they go on buying tech and ideas and beefing them up, and sometimes buying to kill and crush those ideas. But, I am still a fan. Google has played a really important part in the development of our digital life: Cloud based document creation and sharing, real time search, maps and location, ultra minimal design and, most important google.com as the starting point to start surfing the web.

I agree with the comparison you make about China and Google, good point. This makes me think about the arguments against the social web, saying that they fear in participating on such platforms because of privacy reasons. I myself decided a while ago that I was going to jump feet first and start sharing all kind of info about myself. And found out that the more I share, the more my digital net worth increases (many brands have not been able to grasp that simple equation).

I am much more afraid of what Facebook does with my data, than I am afraid of the big G. Google is "open" and somehow transparent, and Facebook is what we call a Walled Garden, an Internet inside the Internet. Google makes most of its money from AdSense and I still do not now how Facebook makes its money, but I am sure that one of their incomes comes from our personal data and our behavior inside that garden.

The kids are allright, they use what is easy and were their crowds are, they don't care about emails, they don't really care about blogs, even Twitter and all that grownup stuff. They want to have fun, hang out and consume fun content available all over. And here is were Facebook is a killer app. Facebook works wonders in aggregating content from all over and consume in one place. Las week is reading on how MTV networks are really interested in the concept of co-viewing, and Facebook does that really well.

I am so happy that you encourage the use of the social web. Internet is transforming every part of society and business, music, tv/video, media, jounalism and advertising. It is vital that all involved start walking on that path. I see in our angency (Lowe SSP3), and I imagine that this is happening al over the place, that creatives, executives, planners, and media buyers, sometimes with fear of being left behind or not really interested in taking those first steps. But at the same time I see lots of desire to receive guidance, this also goes to our clients. And I find it really rewarding to see after showing the web I live in, all these people with bright open eyes, smiling, watching the new road ahead.

I am glad that as a CCO of Lowe worldwide, you allow through this open forum an open discussion between all of us. That is what the social web is about: transparency, engagement and sharing points of view.

Hope my reply was not to long.

Re: let's get the ball rolling....

Give away free OMO or anti BO with every football sold from here to the end of world cup.

Or a antideodorant for footballs?
