I will give Mr. Mizokami credit in the fact that the article displays none of the froth-at-the-mouth hoplophobia that one would expect after seeing such an idiotic title. Honestly, I was expecting to read about the AR-556 being a "high-powered assault weapon useful only for mass killing" and other such drivel.

Typing as an American who grew up at the tail end of the "Cold War" and has no desire to see America go to war against Russia or China or Iran :

America's political leadership doesn't need to be placed in "suicide watch," as the author suggests. It needs to be collectively stripped naked and whipped through the streets. It needs to be stripped of any semblance of power. The only question these people should ask is "You want fries with that?" (Not to besmirch honest fast-food workers)

He must have done a massive editing job on it. I seem to remember seeing a previous version where he called for a "stimulus" plan similar to Obama's "American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009," along with "broadband is a human right." Maybe I was hallucinating . . . ?

So much for fiscal sanity from New Mexico Republicans. Giving these parasites a five-fold pay increase goes beyond the pale with a hyperdrive. Next they'll want a full-time Legislature. Gods only know what sorts of havoc they could wreak with that.

A. Is there a federal agency which requires anyone who sells cars for profit to be fingerprinted, photographed and submit to a background check before going into business?

B. Should people be required to go through a background check before purchasing a car? That isn't the case at present, from what I can tell.

C. At present, there aren't any laws requiring you to have a driver's license, vehicle registration, automotive insurance, license plates, etc. if you're not operating the vehicle on your own property. Those statutes only kick in when you drive the vehicle on public roads.

First, Rove isn't a liberal in the original sense of the word. He's a mercantilist of the same mold as Alexander Hamilton, Woodrow Wilson and the Roosevelts. If the year was 1776, Rove would be a Loyalist, selling out John Hancock and Thomas Jefferson for a few pieces of silver and a column in the Pennsylvania Gazette. If the year was 1791, Rove would be screaming for the blood of whisky distillers in western Pennsylvania and Virginia.

Second, the Second Amendment doesn't GIVE you anything. The right to defend your own life, and the corollary right to own and carry suitable weapons, is part of your being alive as a sapient (self-aware) individual. All the Second Amendment does is acknowledges that the government has no legitimate power to interfere in your exercise of those rights.

The fact remains that Rove is from that faction of the GOP that treats gun owners like a well-worn soccer ball, to be kicked around at their whim, all in the name of political expediency.

Even when guns are outlawed, firearm-related crime still happens. The bad guys steal guns, smuggle them in or make them. Just ask the Brits and Aussies.

With "allies" like Rove, the Bushes, Chris Christie, the Romneys, John McCain, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Ronald Reagan, Christie Todd Whitman, George Deukmejian, etc., etc., etc., who needs Democrats?

Did they have to go through the same sorts of hassles that someone wanting to set up a real gun store would have to? Or did Bill DeBlasio and Baron Bloomberg "expedite" the process so that this video could be produced?

Here in New Mexico, your fellow jarhead Allen Weh seems to left his common sense behind in the Marine Corps where he left his honor and integrity before becoming one of the Kronies. One of his TV spots was about how great the previous TV spot was. Not to mention that he's managed to piss off most of the conservatives, libertarians and independents. I've blathered on at length about this on Facebook, my blog, etc. According to local polling, short of a Hand-of-God-from-the-sky type of miracle, Weh loses to his Big D counterpart (Tom Udall) by 8 points as the best case.
