Twitter should hire ppl to trawl through the trending tweets and block
spammers right outta the gate. (kind of like what Google has done
hiring ppl to click links from their homes).

Failing that auto-blocking accounts created that day which tweet the
same consecutive tweet with all the trend words mentioned + link.

But this feature is now built into twitter, so we'll have to see how it pans out. I suspect this is a response to hashtag spam, which has been generating bad publicity recently.

I don't know that I'd say a poor decision, though I do agree it served a great purpose. The amount of people who upload a picture to avoid having that ugly thing on their page must be huge. Even so, maybe this will be good. Maybe people who didn't want to bother with uploading a picture stopped using the site, and perhaps those are the people they're trying to affect with this change. Just a random thought...

Seconded. The old brown 'wtf?' avatar served a necessary purpose - encouraging users to upload their own. Changing it was a poor decision.

Amazingly, I wasn't referring to any web platform - at all - when I wrote this. But reading back, it could totally apply to Facebook. Too many strong ties and your network don't grow beyond the locale and the historical - opening things up, lets you see new things, meet other people and go further than before. It works in so many different ways. I think my Scottish network will be so much better now that I've mastered the transferable art of forming weaker ties. Thanks Leicester for demonstrating the art of open source relationship building! ;-)

This right here is why Facebook is such a lump of shit. It's the ultimate anti-social network. Some may say those honors should go to MySpace, but Facebook is EXACTLY THE FRIKKIN' SAME AS MYSPACE - just in a smart blue suit. If you want a great online community I'd highly recommend FriendFeed. Like Twitter, but less Meta :)

Ah cool!

Not yet got Leopard on my MBP (Waiting for Snow Leopard then will upgrade mini, ibook and MBP) so I can't use 2.0 at the minute. Leopard is on my mac mini but not got webcam for that. We'll get there! :-)

Personally I'd like just any generic RSS reader to be Push enabled, that way I can plug in almost anything web related of my choosing. Imagine the power of Yahoo Pipes + Push :)

Also, I liked the 'table ready' and smart home ideas - 'Notification: Your toast has popped up!' :D

Might I offer a few more uses? One idea I had a while back was using a QR code as a tattoo. Being one who could never quite decide on a picture that would stay with me the rest of my life, I thought it novel to instead satisfy my nerdier tendencies and have the QR tattoo link to a private domain where I could upload any particular design I felt like, as with a desktop wallpaper. Either way, my tattoo would serve as a placeholder for years to come.

Another benefit to this could be (God forbid) I end up dead in a ditch or incapacitated and someone needed to identify me. Scanning my markings could serve an additional purpose.

Another decidedly evil use of a QR could be a virus. Much like with a shortened URL, you don't know what you're looking at until it's possibly too late. While I haven't investigated the technical side in full, in theory you could have a very simple URL - or even an actual script - written into the QR. While I'm pretty sure most phones are a little too simple to get a script to run off the bat, but I can imagine it being easier to initiate a 'hack' on a WAP/GPRS/3G phone without a Firewall than a computer with.

Thanks for your reply.
1) How to delete videos: ScreenToaster is only online for a month now, and we haven't finished everything. A new version will be out this week, with a video portal and the possibility to delete videos (among all other new features)
2) We are working on it, but this is not easy: ScreenToaster doesn't use a standard compression system, that's why the quality is good, but the drawback is that it is not possible to convert it to another codec.
But we will definitively add a way to export videos to YouTube and local export in swf.
The syncing issue will soon be solved, as well as the streaming issue when there is sound (like on your video).
