We have found that more and more of our plaintiff clients are requesting MSAs (whether or not they submit them to CMS) in order to "account for Medicare's interests" in these cases. I think to not have an MSA, especially in a high dollar liability case with significant future medical needs, is a risky proposition.

I like to see interactivity and wifi added to the Kindle. Other than that it's the ideal e-reader. I'm not sure Amazon has bought into the idea of community and the power thereof. You make an excellent point that this would be a perfect place to deploy the recently purchased Shelfari. Maybe in the next version.

One of the greatest lines from the now defunct "Studio 60" was "don't assume everyone between Fifth Avenue and the Hollywood Strip is an idiot". I thought that was brilliant (living in Ohio). It is also good to remember that there are millions of people living in that area. Hook them on your product and you can become very rich. Great post.

This is absolutely true. I had $BAC and $C both ding my credit limits. I called them and advised them that their moves were more about their financial health than mine and they could put their cards somewhere warm and fuzzy. We have pulled way back on spending at a time where our income has gone up dramatically. Conspicuous conservation is the new black.

I don't thing a full on subscription model will work for most NWS properties. The Wall Street Journal works because there is a hard core business readership. Fox News may work as well because of the devoted readership but that content is available on television. As for the Post and such, I don't visit those sites unless someone links me there. I can't imagine a huge subscription following but I could wrong. I do agree that the FT.com model is excellent for newspaper sites. I'd like to see it more. Other than NYT and WSJ, I can't think of any other newspaper sites I'd pay for.

Funny you bring up healthcare

my brother and parents are in the healthcare profession and they are nervous
about government intervention too.

I think we gotta figure out a way to provide a reasonable amount of coverage
to those that can't afford it. i'm not sure how to do that. maybe ending a
few wars would help.

Oddly, I completely understand how you feel. The government starts tooling around with your area of expertise and your reflex reaction is "wait a minute, these guys don't understand this the way I do". I've been a nurse for 21 years. I am also generally a liberal but when it comes to health care intervention, I get very nervous when the government starts tooling around with it. With tech, and in health care, it seems like some very smart people in the private sector are being left out.
