As someone that often sets up blogs for other people, I know what all the options are. Perhaps to other, more casual users, it can look confusing or even bewildering.

Is it wrong though to do a little bragging on one's own sites? I am currently a Blackberry Curve user, and I've been reasonably happy with it for the last year or so, but my renewal date with Verizon comes up in April, so I'm starting to look at what is on offer now even though I know there might be something else new out there in another 4-5 months.

Much of what I've read about the iPhone hasn't impressed me, and yes, I like a physical keyboard, and I avoid AT&T like the plague.

My smartphone upgrade choices seem to be either a new Blackberry, or an Android based phone. Many people have warmed me off of Windows based phones.

I shall keep my ears and eyes open.

Re: Cellphone Complaints

I would suggest that you speak to somebody involved in Consumer protection in South Africa. It was a great payback!

As for arguing over Haggis, well perhaps not over the price but the origins. I read recently in a BBC article ( http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/8180791.stm ) that Haggis originally came from England. That would be a good way to start an argument in a Glaswegian pub.

Re: How To Help The US Economy

We haggled and decided to go Dutch on the beer, so that blew the whole American thing out of the window...

Re: Anti? Not Really, Just Not Pro Either!

I bought my first 'IBM-Compatible' PC back in 1986. It came with MS-DOS 3.3 and a set of half a dozen 3.5 floppies marked "Windows 1.0" I installed them, and played with this pretty looking thing for a while. It had a notepad type orgram in it, and a paint program, and, as I recall, not much else. There were no other applications back then.

I got bored with it after a short while, and deleted it.

I upgraded a few times over the next few years, but it wasn't until some time in early 1994, when I finally installed Windows 3.1 on my computer. I was more than happy with DOS, and it was, for the time, quite fast and responsive on my 386-based machine with a huge 8MB RAM. Windows turned it into a relative slug, so much of the time, I stayed in DOS anyway.

I've always thought that those DOS days were of great benifit, as I've never been unable to use, or been intimidated by a command line prompt.

Re: Robbery By GPS

The last point is particularly worth noting.
