I'm definitely not advocating that we get rid of professionals. I strongly believe that we need experts that understand not just LEED, but sustainability as it relates to building.

What I'm primarily getting at is that the education of the public needs to be better.

Blake, it's funny, I was just talking to one of those people tonight, a friend from college who is now about 1500 miles away. I have a few very close friends from college that are like family to me. Sometimes, we won't be in touch for weeks or even months at a time, but you know they're great friends when, even after all that time, you can hop right back into conversation as usual.

I also have a few teachers from high school and some mentors from college that are the same. The unfortunate thing is that it is usually them bugging me for an update. I should probably change that.

Blake, that's a really good point. Working with an isolated team is actually one of the downsides of starting a business. PSL has definitely allowed me to work with people I normally wouldn't work with.

Yeah you can get MJ or Madonna anywhere. I like to break out a lot of Depeche Mode, New Order, Joy Division, The Smiths, The Cure, Duran Duran, Human League, B52s, Devo, The Clash... stuff like that. The dancefloor is always packed! :)

I used to like all that Techno/Trance/House stuff, too. Used to go to Josh Wink's nights back in the day. Anyways, I spin every 1st Friday (which is tomorrow night already!). The night is called "Sex Dwarf" (after a Soft Cell song). It's a lot of fun esp. for people (like me) who won't let the 80s die. Haha. No MJ or Madonna, though. We leave that to other DJs. ;)

I will have to make it out to Live Forever one of these days, too. John Redden is a sweetheart; him & his partners are doing pretty well there at the Barbary. Definitely a lot of fun parties with great music there.

Well, like you said, it could be fodder for a lot of content - blog posts, videos, documentaries, tweets from the road, and more. Getting up close & personal with the projects, people, and companies that are featured on your site/in the green space could only be good for your business image, I would think. Because you'd be in the know because you were there, met people, did interviews, verified things, etc. I think people would be interested to follow you on the journey. The green press would probably eat it up. A sponsor would help defray costs naturally & would assure potential investors that this is serious business and you put considerable thought into it (and it's not just a gimmick).

That's awesome. What night do you spin? I haven't been to Fluid in years. I used to be much more into Trance and a little old school House, but now it's mostly Indie/Electro/Mashup.

As for Designer Drugs, ya, they rock. Hands down, they had the best remix of 2008:

The party which they started, Live Forever, is my favorite Barbary party. Unfortunately, that remix caused them to blow up, and this is the first time they've been at the Barbary in forever.

My forte is 80s new wave/alternative/synthpop/italo disco - which I have been spinning at Fluid Nightclub for the past 6+ years. Before we know it, though, some of the stuff from the early 90s is going to be considered retro real quick! I like what I have heard of Designer Drugs, I haven't been able to catch them yet. It seems I'm becoming a regular at The Barbary these days, I was just at the last Sorted and [click.] parties.

What are you referring to when you say retro? Also, if you want to hear some good Indie/Electro, Designer Drugs is playing at the Barbary on Tuesday. Should be pretty amazing.

People take road trips all the time, but we'd do it because it could be good for our business. I think the face time with potential users and clients would be very valuable. I just want to make sure that potential investors wouldn't think less of us because of it.

Totally, we could use an extra driver, that help us get more work done. Also, having my own personal DJ for 6 weeks would be amazing.
