She is easily one of the most outspoken, and quite frankly most irritating, voices on Twitter. From her suicidal breakdown to her weird conspiracy beliefs (aliens live inside people's brains?), she has regularly been a disruptive voice on Twitter.

Also, the fact that she regularly gets her "army" to force topics of her choice into the Trending Topics also establishes her as a Twitter celebrity. Lover her or hate her, she needs to be included on any list of this sort.

Re: TWITTER TAKEOVER: Twitter Overwhelms Facebook Feeds

Official apps set to NOT auto update, both simultaneously begin updating--oh, and these two apps both happen to be competitors of Facebook in this space.

I think it is completely reasonable to link any more of my services to Facebook, whether this was accidental or not. If I wanted all of that posted to Facebook, I would have posted it to Facebook in the first place.

I have a hard time believing this was just a mistake. It started 1 hour 27 minutes ago for me. I specifically keep my accounts separate so I don't overwhelm my family with my political rantings. I have never been so furious with a web service before. That is simply not true.

Unless we aren't paying for this until the savings have been reached, that money is coming from somewhere, and I doubt health care providers are going to just defer billing for half a decade at best. So, a trillion dollars will either be pulled out of the private sector somehow or this money will be printed. If it is printed, that devalues the dollar even further, in a time of economic weakness.

Then, we might make up for that trillion dollars in savings. Obama speaks about it with certainty, but few others do. Many may hope that this is the case, but it is far from a certainty. Plus, we need to consider the economic impact of reallocating this money in the meantime, the inflation that followed, the loss of employment that happens in between taxes being raised and the alleged savings occurring.

Your response is a talking point. I know you believe it, but there are very real and significant economic implications, that frankly no one can say one way or the other what will happen. You might as well roll the dice, because any economist who says how the implementation of this plan would play out is just wrong.

Now, this may not mean it is unviable as a plan. But when someone ignores very real concerns and dismisses them as GOP lies, I am concerned. I would rather see contingency plans for what will happen if things don't go smoothly.

Also, President Obama saying that he won't do something should not fill you with confidence. He has a history of backing away from promises once they have served his purpose. His handling of the stimulus plan was abysmal, and he has earned every ounce of skepticism that he is experiencing from the American public.

Re: RIP, Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett

That man was unmatched at what he did. I have only been to elementcoffee twice, but had a fantastic experience both times.

I full heartedly agree with you about supporting smaller coffeeshops, and just as importantly, small specialty roasters. I am not anti-Starbucks or mega-coffeechain, they usually have good coffee. But they don't have the best coffee, and never will while there are artisan roasters who pour their lives into their coffees. And most of the coffees at large chains are what I like to call "safe." Or, if I'm in a bad mood, I call "just coffee." They don't do anything special or exciting, like a good blend from Stumptown, Coffee Klatch, Intelligentsia, or many others.

Re: The Official Blog of Kyle Sellers - kylesellers.com - First Post!

This is a test of the Disqus comments.

Re: it gazes back at you

Wow! I can attest the fact that medical record supplies are QUITE high. In fact, during that time we lost many clients who switched to electronic medical records (and barcoded wristbands). For a 100 bed hospital, this could result in a loss of hundreds of thousands or dollars of product sales--depending on the level of adoption throughout the hospital. Even the money saved in labor is significant, cutting a purchase order for a single roll of X-Ray date labels can cost over $100 when you factor in the time of all the people required to verify and submit the P/O.

I believe this is an important step for two reasons. First, it is an optional initiative by a private company. I am uneasy about the government initiating this push, and ultimately ending up with the medical records of every American on file. The government is Constitutionally restricted from entering your house without a warrant, yet they could possibly know every time I have a sore throat? I'd rather be able to choose from a number of providers and select the one I trust most. Or even have the option of going to a hospital that DOESN'T use EHR, if I am particularly paranoid.

Second, I believe that Wal-Mart is the right company for this, and the fact that they are partnering with Dell is even better. Both companies have shown an almost relentless pursuit of being the lowest price leader--even to a fault, some might say. The initial adoption of electronic health records is QUITE costly, but it saves a tremendous amount of money in the long run. As more practices adopt EHR, it will almost certainly drive the price down. It might be $25,000 now, but within a few years it could be much lower. Dell and Wal-Mart are both extremely competitive with their prices, and that is exactly what the Healthcare industry needs.

Keep in mind that there is a lot of federal requirements on EHR. You can't just throw a few Excel templates on a laptop with a scanner. HIPAA requirements are high, as they should be, and the penalties for violating HIPAA and a patient's privacy are severe. These systems need to be absolutely secure, with a number of levels of protection available. Certain printers and labeling systems are even considered a violation because they might bleed through a label or show an imprint on the label backing. These are complex systems, that must meet a high level of scrutiny AND reliability. Any error could lead to revealing a patient's identity or medical condition.

Overall, I think this is a great step forward. If there were small steps like this being taken in every aspect of Healthcare (and tort reform) to cut costs, we could have the cheapest most affordable healthcare in the world.

Re: Blackwater, Mormons, and Evangelicals: Prop. 8 Strange Bedfellows

Good point... And I'm also sure you would take your tithes elsewhere. It's something of a natural check and balance. As I type this, I'm actually starting to rethink my prior statement. Churches, charities and unions* are all opt-in groups. If you don't like the group you can stop supporting it. Attend a different church, work in a non-unionized shop (unless you are a state/federal employee), or stop donating to a charity. Basically, these groups can only pull this crap once, before you wise up.

I think my problem is when organizations with any sort of taxpayer money use the monies for political campaigns. I think that is criminal.

For the record, my church held a separate tithe for those who supported Prop 8, and reaffirmed that they would NEVER use any tithed money for political purposes. I'm actually quite proud of how this was handled by my church, especially when compared to the larger churches in town.

Re: Blackwater, Mormons, and Evangelicals: Prop. 8 Strange Bedfellows

Regarding: "I won’t even address how offensive it is to have tax-exempt religious organizations inject money and resources into politics. Whatever their agenda, they are making an effort with a lot of tax-exempt money to shape the political landscape via out-of-state money and resources."

I think we are in agreement here. Of course, I would also apply this to: Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac, World Can't Wait Coalition, unions, Al Sharpton's National Action News, ACORN, etc...

I criticize unions for taking their members money and donating it "on their behalf" and agree that this should apply to churches to. A better solution is for them to encourage their members to donate, and leave it up to them.

Re: Tell John McCain The Politics of Hate Won’t Work

According to the Secret Service, the "Kill Him" allegations are unfounded.
