I think people are becoming more lazy as the web is growing/expanding.

It's a lot easy to Retweet as compared to linking and things would be worse when apps/twitter interface start having a retweet button.

I feel Blogging on the whole is no more the preferred medium and people would get more hooked to microblogging/lifestreaming etc for the "instant gratification" it offers. @replies and RT's come a lot faster and easily than linkbacks and comments on a blog and unfortunately I don't see this changing

Re: That's not what I ordered...

Early this year my dad was also Diagnosed with a cancer(grade IV) of brain and I almost know what it feels like to be in that situation. ROI and other such metrics are a concern for only those who are in Social Media with a purpose other than pleasure.

Think of all those million facebook users that take silly(for some) quizzes religiously or millions of twitter users that broadcast anything and everthing that comes to their mind day in and day out. They never think about ROI and never will, Social Media for them is like TV.

Re: 8 Essential Apps for Your Brand’s Facebook Page

There's an import a blog link on the right side when you try to edit the app..

Fox ex: if you've added the app to a fan page, click edit button below the page pic and then go to the app(notes) and click edit, then you'll see import a blog link.

Re: Your Brand Needs Help: What Brands Are Doing Wrong on Twitter

Creating an account is one thing and using it properly is another

More brands ill use twitter(and other social tools) than those that use 'em properly. I think it all drills down to a) reason for creating an account b) the person behind that account.

You'll see umpteen cases where brands accounts are just trying to sell things with majority of updates about new offers, which certainly is a bad thing to do.

There are(and will be) a small crop that'll learn by copying other successful brands but remaining will continue to suck and ultimately desert these tools as they won't be able to get anything out of 'em.

Re: Twitter Spam Invades Trending Topics

It had to happen, I too wrote about it a couple of days back. http://mayank.name/2009/05/09/the-great-twitter... . At the most these stats can tell some region based information or some time based information for ex: a retweet with PL got more clicks from country/region X and chance of a tweet being retweeted increase for tweets sent b/w 4 PM and 5 PM IST.

Re: Micropsychographics: Twitter Types And Retweeting

Interesting post Stowe, what works on someone might not work on others but am not sure if tracking clicks, maintaining data and using this data would be feasible on a tool like Twitter.

I wrote a post on ReTweeting and Echo Chamber and would like to know what you(and others in here) think about it

http://mayank.name/2009/03/30/re-tweeting-and-e...

Re: The First Video

Videos are cool. Though I don't write thank you notes I do write birthday notes(about 5-10) for my family members and hide them at various places like Moosterz suggested, I paste a couple at the bathroom mirror, refrigerator etc so its the first thing they see early in the morning. It feels great..

All thanks to my Dad for doing this for me once and that's how I picked it up :)

Re: louisgray.com: Does a Service Need a Business Model to Have You as a Customer?

Not really. Financial viability of a service is the last thing that crossed my mind while using it. Though given the way pownce closed and Jaiku has gone into a black hole(almost) its a bit worrying.

The biggest concern of loosing a service is a) loss of data b) loss of connections and chances are that if you really connect with someone on one service. You might also add them to another service, say LinkedIn, from which you can always maintain contact. So if time and option to save one's data are given, not much issues really.

Re: Yes I am a ..
