I think there can always be elements of social businesses in every business. I think B2B is the area with the biggest challenge, but providing your customers or potential customers with valuable insight and access or building internal social structures than enable your employees to collaborate for the company benefit make you a social business, too. There might be an example out there than would be an exception, but I'm having a hard time finding it. Thanks for the thought provoking question!

Re: Becoming A Social Business Is Your Next Big Challenge

Very nicely put Jason. I particularly like the idea of extending the scope beyond software/internet.

Question: Will every business do well as a social business or there are some exceptions?

Re: Case study on storystreaming: A day in the sun

Great case study. I think people are becoming more lazy as the web is growing/expanding.

It's a lot easy to Retweet as compared to linking and things would be worse when apps/twitter interface start having a retweet button.

I feel Blogging on the whole is no more the preferred medium and people would get more hooked to microblogging/lifestreaming etc for the "instant gratification" it offers. @replies and RT's come a lot faster and easily than linkbacks and comments on a blog and unfortunately I don't see this changing

Re: That's not what I ordered...

Early this year my dad was also Diagnosed with a cancer(grade IV) of brain and I almost know what it feels like to be in that situation. ROI and other such metrics are a concern for only those who are in Social Media with a purpose other than pleasure.

Think of all those million facebook users that take silly(for some) quizzes religiously or millions of twitter users that broadcast anything and everthing that comes to their mind day in and day out. They never think about ROI and never will, Social Media for them is like TV.

Re: 8 Essential Apps for Your Brand’s Facebook Page

There's an import a blog link on the right side when you try to edit the app..

Fox ex: if you've added the app to a fan page, click edit button below the page pic and then go to the app(notes) and click edit, then you'll see import a blog link.

Re: Your Brand Needs Help: What Brands Are Doing Wrong on Twitter

Creating an account is one thing and using it properly is another

More brands ill use twitter(and other social tools) than those that use 'em properly. I think it all drills down to a) reason for creating an account b) the person behind that account.

You'll see umpteen cases where brands accounts are just trying to sell things with majority of updates about new offers, which certainly is a bad thing to do.

There are(and will be) a small crop that'll learn by copying other successful brands but remaining will continue to suck and ultimately desert these tools as they won't be able to get anything out of 'em.

Re: Twitter Spam Invades Trending Topics

It had to happen, I too wrote about it a couple of days back. http://mayank.name/2009/05/09/the-great-twitter... .
