Given that the whole point of the article is to relax and disengage,Ms. Kelly could never contact Gina.

Her tone (and maybe Newsweek's) is do what makes you feel comfortable when it comes to discussing our new president and his family and ignore any type of historical realities or the possibility that anyone else may have more cultural insight and knowledge than you.

It's very insulting but not surprising.

Rikryah, did you see this Newsweek story? It calls out MOW and WAOD without mentioning the blogs on HuffPo "getting clobbered" on calling Sasha Obama "Sassy" without naming the sites on their story, "No Apologizes."

Don't know why they didn't just name the blogs if they're all unapologetic and shizz.

If McCain loses, I think the NE will stir up this shytstorm. And CNN may be pissed enough to run with it, considering they initially provided Palin cover and she repaid the favor by kicking them out of her meeting with a foreign head of state at the time she's desperately trying to build up her foreign policy credentials.

You don't piss off someone who runs interference for you, and she's too dumb to realize it.

What if Todd Palin was actually running the state of Alaska, and she's just the damned figurehead? Reagan all over again, only the roles are reversed (Nancy actually ran the country for eight years while they propped up Reagan in Cabinet meetings and made him read on script like he was the POTUS, remember?)

The problem is perception. Because people still see the NE as a tabloid despite being right on the Edwards story. People are just going to ignore it unless something else happens. They're ignoring it right now, just like they ignored the John Edwards story when it broke.

I'm not saying the story's false, I'm saying the press probably won't pick up on it unless they have to, unless they're pressured and that pressure happens and builds over time. With John it took months and he wasn't even running anymore. The election is in November. That's not a lot of time to convince CNN to run with what will be labeled by the opposition as a hateful smear and make Palin out as a the victim.

Democrats, unless they've recently changed, are not going to hype this in the next six weeks for fear of blow back. Something else would have to happen to make it "acceptable" to discuss it in the open.

But that trashy tabloid has been scooping the MSM and embarrassing their asses. Besides, they broke that story on John Edwards, and the MSM went to sleep then. Additionally, the National Enquirer has actually acted as the gatekeepers of the 4th estate - they actually are doing investigative journalism, which the rest of the MSM are too friggin lazy to get off their asses and do.

They won't risk being sued, either. Ever since Carol Burnett got a $1million out of their asses for making up a story about her being drunk in public, the Enquirer knows whatever they report has to have elements of truth in it or they risk continuous lawsuits.

I read they made Jim Burdett take three lie detector tests regarding Palin cheating on her husband with his business partner.

He passed them all.

Her best bet is for someone to get hurt or sick to get out of that debate. Either her daughter has to miscarry or have a premature birth. Those are the only things that could get her out of it short of her husband getting in a near fatal car wreck or one of her parents dying.

Or a terrorist attack. Or another natural disaster. It has to be HUGE. So huge the press will be shamed into not asking follow questions with she asks to post-pone. (not that they'd ever let them ask her questions).

If we're playing conspiracy theory, her daughter "was" pregnant before. The other rumor about the baby was true. And they made up this present "pregnancy." But that's crazy conspiracy theory stuff. If you're among the many who think Bristol's pregnancy was thrown out there to distract us or cover something else up ...?

Personally, I find the likelihood far-fetched because I would like to believe that a VP candidate wouldn't be running around like a lost episode of Falcon's Crest. But if they wanted to kill the debate, for reals, that would be the best and most efficient way of doing it because no one would question her decision to bow out.

Or her daughter could just go into labor early. But that would only give her some time to post-pone, not kill, the debate. A wedding would not be a good excuse to kill the debate because a wedding can happy anytime. She needs "disaster" to strike. Todd needs to be diagnosed with cancer. Her mom needs to be in a near fatal car accident. She can't just throw up her hands and say "The dog ate my debate." The excuse has to be plausible and F'ed up enough that the press will back off.

And the National Enquirer ran with a story on her cheating on her husband and all we got were crickets. Maybe that one will build steam, but I doubt it. The John Edwards thing had months and months of build up before anyone took it seriously in the press and the NE doesn't have that same amount of time for Palin.

At the end of the day, they're still a duplicitous, trashy tabloid.

However, it's reported that Bristol's in her sixth, going on seventh month. Haven't the ReThugs succeeded in banning partial-birth abortions? And in any case, isn't it too late for that route, even if she were to do it?

I actually think she is out of her league. Not dumb. Just in over her head because she's never had to think about national or international issues before. All she has are the basic talking points.

Truth is, if she was brilliant the McCain campaign wouldn't be hiding her. They'd have her on everything from Larry King to The View to show off their prized, confident, intelligent, youthful superstar. They would NEVER want someone to come off as stupid. That doesn't help McCain. Sure they want to lower expectations, but if she was a dynamo on the national/international issues they wouldn't be hiding her from anyone. They'd play down expectations, but they would shield her when she was such a media sensation when she first came out. Strategically it's too risky to have someone garbling their talking points and looking clueless. Never mind her 101 personal problems.

McCain just saw a tempting, hot commodity. He never checked to see what was going on upstairs or in her life. She was young, Republican and attractive with ovaries. He didn't think any harder about her than he did about "suspending his campaign." McCain is a desperate man pulling tricks hoping people will fall for them ... and they are genuinely worried about the debate. And as crazy as Biden is, he's no joke. He doesn't stutter. He's concise and likable. This is deadly for them. Conservatives are turning on him for picking her with her every sparse interview that reveals how poorly she understands the issues. I'm sure she's cramming around the clock for the debate.

She's just lucky the bar is set so low it's in the basement. It'll be a win for her if she just pronounces the names right.

The problem is they DON'T know if the bailout will work. They don't know what letting the banks fail will do. They just know both options are bad and as usual the Bush Administration waited so long, by the time they realized they needed to do something Bear Sterns collapsed and shit has been rolling downhill ever since.

If they don't do the bail out several banks are on the chopping block to fail without the help (see Washington Mutual who fell apart last week and was scooped up by Merrill Lynch) and the markets will go into disarray and credit is likely to freeze up with no one loaning anyone money for anything and the government would end up spending billions to cover the losses of US citizens in FDIC backed banks.

BUT if the go with the bailout they risk screwing up inflation. We don't actually have $700 billion. We're going to sell T-bills or whatever to foreign governments to raise the cash, then the treasury is going to start printing dollars to inject them into the market to encourage investment and spending. The only problem is there will be so many dollars out there the value of the US currency could drop dramatically and inflation could skyrocket.

Plus, the taxpayers would inherit all this worthless real estate we would have to sell for a loss.

There's just no good answers and Congress, the president and the Fed are just throwing up $700 billion and a prayer and hoping this will stop the bloodletting, then cross their fingers that inflation won't get higher. Or that more money won't be needed for the bailout (because no one knows how much these mortgage securities are worth).

So, long story short. Either way, we're all screwed.

Seriously. All I remember from her interview was Georgia, Ukraine, NATO, John McCain, Alaska, Strategic Reserve, Russia, Putin, Abraham Lincoln ... did she say Jesus? I can't remember. But pronouns. I remember there were a lot of those. Like all strung together connecting to nothing and leading to no point.
