I'm not sure I understand your first question, but Sponsored Tweets will deposit $1,000 into your Sponsored Tweets account, when you win. You can immediately withdraw this $1,000 into your PayPal account.

I can tell you I was far from winning the last competition and it wasn't released how many Shoemoney had to win the second challenge. I know Zac Johnson had around 400 to win the first one.

The second one was very short, so you probably didn't have big numbers, but this one is pretty long, so you'll probably see some big numbers to win.

Yeah, you can customize it before you hit the "update" button on Twitter, but I'm talking about the default text - what Amazon sends to Twitter & pre-fills in the status box.

I agree with Geno -- the way I understand the FTC, the advertiser/merchant does bear responsibility, also. I'm leaving that to Amazon -- I know I disclose when I post the links.

You can customize the tweet, Eric. -- I've changed it every time I've done it and added a disclosure statement of some kind.

If I'm reading everything that the FTC says correctly, merchants/advertisers will have as much (if not more) responsibility for monitoring affiliate compliance as affiliates/publishers will have for disclosing the material relationships with the "sponsors". So, any advertiser that makes a tool like this available wants to make sure they're doing everything possible not only to (a) educate/warn/advice, and but also to (b) keep those affiliates compliant (not to be accused of lousy monitoring/enforcing).

Thanks for the question, Geno! I guess I should have been more specific about what the button actually does. It automatically shortens the affiliate link to a bit.ly link, but there is no disclosure. Amazon leaves that up to you. I pretty much take responsibility for that, anyway.

One other thing that was noted in the panel was that it's almost impossible to avoid so-called "sponsored conversations" -- even for those "utopian" bloggers (great term, BTW).

Almost everything you write, video, or photograph could be construed, in some way, to be sponsored. Jeremiah Owyang did a great job as the moderator pointing this out, right from the start.

That's OK, Nathan -- you could have done what I did -- have the Twitter name on the card and then change your Twitter name right before leaving for the conference, not realizing that it's still the old name on the cards. Big time FAIL! :) Oh well, I have had my Twitter name on my card for a while and will continue to do so -- just need to be sure it's the right one. :)

I heard the same thing over and over at BWE but charging for something you can Google is not how I work. It stinks that I can't bring myself to do it. I know the whole argument about paying for the convenience of not goggling it but I still can't do it.

Also one of the things I am doing for free can't be goggled, it actually requires work on my part. I have to go somewhere and do a task. the problem is I already said yes and do bring up payment now would seem sleazy to me.

You heard this "theme" over and over in panel after panel after session at BlogWorld....if you don't value yourself, no one will.

I'm not saying you need to be a greedy bastard (although, I do believe sometimes it's necessary) -- I'm saying if you want this to be a business or income, you have to treat it as such. Would a plumber install your sink and toilet for free, just because he's feeling moral and ethical? No -- and I'm not including your cousin the plumber. :)

Everyone's an expert in something and whatever that something is required lots of hard work and learning to acquire and deserves compensation. Period. Not a raping, just and fair compensation.

My personal preference is this:
for mobile video shooting or when I'm out with the family, I use my flip.

If I'm recording video for a product, I use my tape-based Sony camcorder (with all the "prosumer" attachments).

I haven't look at other things closely. Guess the bulk of my disposable income goes into my computer?

Thanks for the comment, Andrew! What are your thoughts on the Flip alternatives, such as the Kodak and RCA Small Wonder? Not as portable?

They both have external memory, something that appeals to me, but they are a bit bigger.

They have big personalities and are well known but I was able to have nice conversations with each of them and they are down to earth great guys just like you. I think the more that you get to be on panels the bigger you are gonna blow up. Especially being a part of toastmasters and knowing how to talk to a crowd.
