We store everything on S3.

But when we tell clients about S3 they seem to not trust it - or maybe the don't get it.

I used to work at a local IT company who has a data center and handles client backups. Their differentiation factor is that most businesses trust local establishments first. They know if there is an issue there is someone to call.

Louis - first off you should be a top 10 tech blog...

Secondly - I really think it's too late for Technorati and one of the biggest annoyances of this release is the conversational element. I don't think we need to add yet another place to discuss stuff. The conversation is already fragmented.

Thirdly - what value does it bring to the table now? Rankings? While those are fun and what not - what does that mean? An aggregator? That market is saturated with better tech. A news site? Meh

Great List - Love Plugin Central and Security Scan. Try WordPress Backup Plugin instead of WP-DB Backup as it backs up both files and database to S3... Also WP-SpamFree has helped us immensely with spam comments

It is an overload... Much like the initial feeling of FriendFeed. I suppose once people calm down and more people get in the system - things will stablize. One thing I love about the service - it could really be anything - social network, collaboration, forum, chat, etc, etc. It's 100% scalable and will constantly evolve.

Great overview!

Couple points - If you are going to be setting up multiple WP blogs, do so with WordPress MU. believe me - it will save you headaches down the road if you continue adding blogs. Why? It's so much easier to update one set of core files than many.. Also you can manage plugins and themes much easier.

I always install WP in the root - for SEO purposes it's a no-brainer.

As far as after installation goes - I configure, setup backups first thing (http://bit.ly/backupplugin), then Seo/Google plugins, etc

I love this app! On Saturday I *got* to go to a wedding - which is no good for a huge college football fan. Luckily I had this app open with the GameTracker feature running during the wedding to keep up with the Michigan game.

It's not quite like watching the game live but it's there when you need it

I've been using Mindmeister for awhile now and the addition of an iPhone app
makes me much more productive. Evernote + Mindmeister = productivity machine
