I use ubuntu with xfce (http://xubuntu.org), I like it better than lubuntu which comes with the LXDE desktop.

This sort of worked. It deleted the update, but the settings app still shows a "1" in red. When I open the app, the software update entry shows a one as well. When I tap software update, it searches and informs me that I have iOS 8.0 and my software is up to date. But the "1" doesn't go away.

Agreed! I prefer Virtualbox for my desktop/test/experimental OS's. :)

I visit the same set of web sites with most browsers. The problem shows up on IE8 only, hence an IE8 problem IMHO.

Hi C,

The mix up should be fixed. I don't rely on spell checkers. At all. I write here for fun, so it doesn't matter. Hopefully the content of the post will build the credibility and not the grammar. Feel free to point out any mistakes I make though, I'll probably fix them. :)

1. Confusion as to whether their will be conflicts between the various versions
2. Amount of machines/reinstalls I have to work with makes it really frustrating each time I do have to install a framework
3. apt-get has spoiled me
4. Apple/Cocoa has spoiled me

I forgot to mention something in my post. Its not just installation that is frustrating. If I want to start writing for windows, what framework do I use?
.Net 3.0, 3.5 or x.x. Will my users have it installed? Will they have to install it? Will they not use my software if asked to install a framework?

Too many questions.
