Sorry to hear your scanner is not up to snuff and, no, I’ve not seen “City
of Darkness: Life in Kowloon Walled City.” Will definitely keep an eye out
for it. That reminds me… I followed, an eon ago in internet-time, a
flickrite who shot quite often in Kowloon. I must sift through my contacts
and see if I can locate the person. I’ll pass along whatever I turn up.

The image — http://bit.ly/20ZznC — is from an architecture blog I’ve
followed for some time. It’s a reblog actually… I originally posted it to
my tumblr about a year and a half ago. In the interim, I’ve lost the path
(a bookmark clearing frenzy), and the hierarchy of the site has been
altered. I tried a search using Tineye — http://bit.ly/2uta0O — but,
unfortunately, it wasn’t in their database.

A while back, a company tried to revive the *Earth Shoe*. It was popular with the new-age, back-to-the-earth bunch in the 70s; described then as negative heel technology! the soles thick, the heels thin. It was claimed you would feel like you were walking in beach sand, heel down, naturally. Now - http://bit.ly/ga6t - it's being marketed as a calorie burner! I can't wait for whatever the next marketing campaign claims :)

Agreed, it's a total eye-pleaser. There is no doubting Mr Wingårdh's talent, I think - in time - they will be viewed as curiosities, like that style of California suburban-tract house that was popular in the 70s (sorry, the name escapes me at the moment).

Can they not be both?

There was a time when The Who seemed mired in malaise; that eon between the
beginning of the Lifehouse project and the release of By Numbers. It fell
to Pete's Who Came First and Rough Mix with the dear departed demi-god
Ronnie Lane to tide me over. I've read different places that critics
decried By Numbers as Pete's suicide note; it was rather dark and brooding.
I preferred the open-hearted wonderfulness of WCF and RMix.

You will have to record "Day of Silence."

Always my preferred lower-case *g*, especially when I am
lettering/printing. I can see how it would be a little off-putting to some,
this one is packed pretty tight. One of two letters I look to in a
typeface, the other being the letter *y*. I once read one should first look
to the letter *n*. No offense, but *n*'s just aren't as sexy as *g*'s or *y
*'s :)

Curiosity is getting the better of me and normally, I’m not the curious
sort! Wondering what you plan to post this weekend, without benefit of a
hint or a clue, I’ve come up with some perhaps-this and perhaps-thats. It
will be interesting to see how far off I am with my guesses.

I’m in total agreement re Peter Gabriel. I’ve always thought of him as
coming from a familiar place, possibly a mite worn and world-weary, but in a
nice way.

I’m pleased to learn you approve of my marathon.

I did indeed dust a few. I listened to Acquiring the Taste, Octopus, Three Friends and bits of In a Glass House.

The track that really hit home had to be Mister Class and Quality from Three Friends... I thought, why have I put these aside... shuffle, bloody shuffle... I seldom listen to albums, it’s all random shuffle.

Tonight, I'll work on rectifying that. I've set aside Free Hand, The Power and the Glory, In a Glass House and - perhaps, if there is time - bits of Under Construction.

Vinyl? A friend of a friend, a bit of an audiophile, with the proper vintage gear. Nothing like listening to Gentle Giant, [Peter Gabriel-era] Genesis, Yes, Emerson, Lake & Palmer etc with high-end equipment of the era.

Again, thanks for sparking a mini prog-rock revival. Cheers!

How many woke elsewhere, did not require hospitalization, did not have police reports filed? If one in ten, on average, liked it..? that sort of freaks me out!
