I listen to Osher's podcast as well. His chat with Uge was fantastic. I'm a big AquaBumps fan anyway and I knew enough about Uge to know I'd enjoy the episode. As far as creating your own industry goes, I don't think there are many in Australia that could beat what Uge has done. A LOT of lessons in this episode.

I also dig Osher's style with the podcast too. Very relaxed and personal.

Witopia is a brilliant service. Their cloakbox is great and perfect for a wireless setup at home. On my iPhone/iPad I've found that I get slightly performance using Strong VPN.

So my setup is Witopia cloakbox for creating my own protected wireless network, and Strong VPN for individual mobile devices.

Folders alone makes this feel like a brand new phone. I used to spend ages organising each page into groups of apps, now they're all sitting comfortably in their folders on one page. Just wow.

I thought GoodReader was okay, but only as an interim until the iPad version of the Dropbox app came out (it did and it's awesome). If you don't need to edit your docs, then Dropbox is your best friend. Memeo Connect is great for accessing Google Docs too.

I also never thought I'd find a better way to mind map than on pen and paper too. MindNode is fantastic for mind maps, and incredibly intuitive to use.

I think my greatest disappointment so far though, has been the Wordpress app. It's just buggy and not worth even trying to use at this point. Takes away some of the benefit of having such a brilliant mobile device, which is a real shame for bloggers on the move.

If iTap doesn't tick all the right boxes for you, GuruBob, Eugene Ware and I have been using iTeleport (previously named Jaadu) on the iPhone for well over a year to great effect, and the iPad version is even better. It's more expensive but works brilliantly.

And no, it's not cheating at all. If I'm sitting in a pub updating a website, using my Mac that's sitting at home via the iPad, then that's not cheating because I'm still getting that mobile freedom.

I like the publishing options Reeder put on the table but NewsRack has already done it. Reeder will need to be impressive to pull me away at this point. If they're smart they'll really make good use of the landscape mode to reduce the number of steps (taps) to get where you want to go.
Streamlining the user experience seems to be their best chance at besting NewsRack.

Totally agree Paul. Reeder was my app of choice on the iPhone, but NewsRack ticks all of the right boxes on the iPad.

Completely agree Paul. I've tested the app with multiple blogs running on various versions of WP, with various themes and plugins. None of them were issue free. Too buggy to really be useful at this stage.

I agree completely Ed, I can't think of any one thing in my lifetime that the Australian government has done, that will have as many far reaching implications as this. It keeps Australia on the world stage moving forward, rather than being left behind as some backwater country that can't keep up with a fast moving world.

My only problem with all of this is that I'll need to put my Stephen Conroy voodoo doll away for a while. ;-)

I love the Firefox sidebar, and was pleased to see an AIR app version. While the Twitter support is great, I think the inclusion of buttons or tabs for replies and direct messages would make this a much more attractive to the average user.
