disqus invented reply via email. they launched v1 with that feature two years ago. everyone else, including posterous copied it from them

I've tried IntenseDebate (natural fit for wordpress) and also Disqus. To be honest, I wasnt too happy with them both - I finally switched to Posterous.com - which for me does something important - allows me to reply via email rather than visit the site. I know ID and Disqus may have these features... but I like it simple. Saves time.

Looking at the new style... its much more cleaner! I like it...

We've switched to Disqus, for simplicity - IntenseDebate has a whole set of features, with email integration - however, it was over crowded. I like things to be simple for my readers/users.

I'm with you on Amazon, I've always felt comfortable with its model, and Bezos leading it.

An insight into where Amazon's sales is coming from would be interesting. I'm just curious as to how much is coming from outside the US. I for one (and like many in Bahrain/Dubai), buy things regularly from Amazon, have them Aramexed (www.Aramex.com - the Middle East Equivalent of Fedex) to me. The cost of buying online, shipping is still cheaper than buying stuff from the stores here!

Google no doubt has made its impact on our lifes, with cloud computing, Gmail has become a digital nervous system - and even if Google were to charge or some free/premium model, I'd guess that many would be willing to pay for it! Google knows how to prototype, kill the weaklings and run with the winners.

Apple. I'm a Mac fan, so my answer would be biased!!! Good health to Steve!

Fred, great post - de-mystifies certain assumptions about VC. And just like valuing art - valuing companies, particularly early stage ones is difficult. The effort behind the masterpiece is more of skill, effort, or just brilliance of ideas. I hope people realize that.

Thanks William. I may be wrong, but to my knowledge IRR assumes that the cash is re-invested immediately at the same rate. This may not be so, as finding an investment for the same rate may not be practical always. If this is wrong... why would people use Modified IRR? Anyway I'll let you decide that. We're currently testing IntenseDebate from Automattic, the founders of WordPress. The CSS seems to be working fine in Safari, not so good in Firefox - although I could be having a cache problem. IntenseDebate is a threaded comment feature - something which is required for a proper discussion. However, this is more than just threads, it handles them efficiently through email, and integrates well with WordPress. If you click on the picture, it will give you a brief profile of the user also. Plus many more features. Like Disqus, Brians Threaded Comments - only better.

You're dead on with iPhone... as much as it is as a killer device... there are lot of areas it needs to work on.

I recently got a blackberry curve 8320 over a nokia E series... loving every minute of it. Texters will love this, and its an information device firstly, entertainment secondary.

btw, iPhone is not out in Bahrain officially, and the ones that are, are going for BD600 i.e. just over Rs. 63K !!!
