The writers of the show are up front about taking some liberties with the story. They wanted to do so in order to add an element of surprise for those familiar with the books. Shifting Richards relations with Rahl does appear to be a big change but I'm curious to see if they can still stay true to the elements and the spirit of the story in the books. What do you think: Does changing Richard and Rahl's relations to each other has an impact on the spirit of the story?

Thanks!! I've actually attempted NaNo three times before and succeeded twice. So, I hope to get back on target with this one, but I am concerned it will be my worst novel ever :D But I won't let that stop me since the NaNo slogan is "Quantity over quality."

I remember seeing your posts about OrionsArm.com I don't think my stuff is quite that style, but I've been meaning to check that stuff out for a while. Thanks for the comment/reminder :)

Wow, see, as an American, I don't get any of that. It's all confusing to me--a publicly funded "impartial" news source ;) We have issues like the one you mention with the radio jocks--only for us it was retired generals still on the payroll of the USG AND the cable news network they were "consultants" for. So, they'd go on TV and talk about how great things are going and collect two checks (sorry: cheques) for the work.

Then there were the paid bloggers (shock! bloggers getting paid to write stuff!! Wait, I want that job!!). Of course, these bloggers were getting paid by marketing companies hired by the USG and other political orgs to talk-up conservatives, conservative programs and more. It was ridiculous.

But really, the news media, itself, are in the back-pocket of government and vice-versa--at least in the US. Big media lobbies government to pass laws that making owning LOTS of media legal. In return, they serve as mouthpieces for the government. Even if you're Fox News, you're still helping a leftie government. It's always easier to make a point when you have an enemy.

The whole system is corrupt and I'm seriously surprised that the BBC and the ABC have the rep they have. The UKG and the Aus Government must not be as incompetent as the USG. :\

Wow--I'm sorry you're dealing with all of that, Toby! I had no idea.

The American mythos has this whole "individual freedom" thing going. We think that we can do everything ourselves and if anything bad happens, it's our own fault for not being more on the ball--this is just general stuff--not even what happens when we face life-threatening disease. My step-dad was embarrassed last Christmas when he realized I was stronger than him. I wanted to tell him: "Of course I can carry the tree in from the garage--You're on chemo, I'm not. It's OK. For once, I can do it."

But he wouldn't have accepted that--he would have agreed, but inside he'd have still been down on himself for what happened.

It's absurd--I've stopped accepting responsibility for things I have no control over years ago. When I can't pay my bills, it's not because I'm lazy or aren't trying hard enough to find a job, it just is what it is. Of course I try--of course, I work hard--sometimes the job just isn't there. What the hell am I supposed to do? Get a job at my local supermarket? I can't! I don't speak Spanish. But I guess it's my fault for not learning it.

In the end it's all about balancing a positive attitude with realistic precaution. Thinking positive is great for the morale of those around you (and yourself), but it doesn't bend fate to your will. I do think there might be something to seeing more options when you are positive. But who knows?

I love to see XO mesh tech in other stuff. I think it's the ultimate in freedom, frankly--you create instant mini-Internets where ever you go. I wish the iPhone had mesh tech in it.

I have seen rumblings about Pixel Qi having something new coming out, but I didn't know any specifics. Thanks! It'll be nice to see those displays put to use elsewhere. I just hope OLPC does good things with the licensing fees they make :)

The OS went in pretty quickly, even considering I jailbroke. It's the syncing everything that is taking fricken ages. Apps, calendars, email, etc. I'm just gonna delete half of it anyway :\

But thanks for the heads-up, I'll be sure to post how long it takes. All told, it's about 20 mins so far.

Well, yeah--but those people are still breaking the law. I don't get people who take jobs that might require them to risk them, but would rather not risk their jobs and do crappy work. :\

If you don't want to do the job, then don't TAKE the job--or in this case, run for office.

It is simply a joke at the expense of Kadaj and the other remnants who summoned Bahamut Sin in their attempt to bring back Sephiroth to avenge the death of Jenova.

Ack! Good to know--I've been contemplating FCE as a matter of fact. Now I know what to expect. I don't mind fewer features, but none and all the complexity? What sense does that make?

Honestly, if iMovie used less resources, allowed for multiple video tracks and timecode, I'd never use anything else.

Sounds like you have a case of an old dog that won't learn new tricks. It's hard to get rid of that smugness. I would mostly suggest having him listen to his calls and try to emphasize with the person on the other end. Maybe with some careful shadowing with a more sympathetic associate.

Just sounds like he needs to get refreshed and see things through new eyes.

In my field, a good service experience retains business and leads to further business. That's a win win. Companies need to focus on putting the best people on their own front lines.

Good point. It helps to know what we want by placing that call and to know policies in advance too. It's hard but not impossible.

I too have worked in the service industry and it definitely helped to pay the bills where it was completely ethical.
That is what I love about Dollhouse, it makes us look at the situation from another perspective and for me I am not bothered about hiring another person so long as it is a act of free will and not for the purpose to deceive. Though I'm still pondering what the not to deceive means there can be situations where it would make sense and not do harm but I haven't figured out how to clearly delineate the differences.

We are diligently working on the reboot of everything and are also chomping at the bit to get another seeker podcast out :) I can assure you that we will get new episodes out if not before the start of the season then by the start of the season. Season 5 will not end airing on TV until September 30. This means that typically we won't see a DVD release for about 6 months though last season was split into two parts where they released the first half of the season early before the season ended then the second half was released 6 months latter. Since they have not mentioned a release yet and we are looking at 3 more episodes to go I doubt we will see it soon.
