Hmmm I had a brief play with the DLNA bizzo when I was pretending to be a gangster. I was largely unimpressed.

Seemed like a reasonably poor implementation, but then I've been spoilt by XBMC in the past. I didn't get a chance to see what xvid/ac3/mkv/etc. compatibility was like. It did appear that you needed to run a pokey DLNA-compatible server application on the PC, but that might have just been Samsung being lame.

So does it play content over the network, or just from local storage? I prefer to leave stuff on the big drives in the PC and stream them.

The XBox 360 is almost there, but it doesn't play MKVs natively, so I have to transcode (well, just repackage really) if I want to play them.

Hey Anthony.

Yup it should work fine. Even though I use Squeeze Center, I can still see both of the Squeezeboxes listed on SqueezeNetwork (just showing as not connected). So I'm sure the Duet controller will be able to select between them.

I don't know if you can buy the Duet controller separately though?

As straight as you'd expect really? It's made of the same material as 90% of headphone cords. No issues from my end.

Martin,

I have only been using them for a couple of weeks, but they seem pretty robust. Good molded connectors everywhere, including the join between the split ear cords and the main cord. They also come with a small hard carry case. It's a bit fiddly to coil up the cords to fit in the case, but it does offer good protection. It also doubles as a good way to carry the extra compressible earbuds if you want to swap between those and the silicone ones depending on the environment.

Yes the Boom has a rear socket that can be used to plug in a subwoofer OR headphones.

Selecting music is not too bad. The wheel on the front is used to scroll through any available lists, and the scrolling accelerates if you turn it quickly. Lists also wrap around. So if I want to listen to Wilco for example, I'll select "Music Library" then "Artists" then scroll backwards from A back to W with about a half-turn.

From there you can either just hit "Play" to play the entire collection from the artist, or click to drill down to individual albums.

I know you guys are probably sick to the back teeth of foreigners "meddling" in your politics, but let me say this: Powell's endorsement speech has restored a massive amount of my faith in the USA. The noise level from the McPalin *bullshit* has been pretty high here in New Zealand, and it has been a real downer.

This speech, and especially the "so what if he were Muslim" comment is brilliant.

That sounds a lot like a firewall issue. Definitely not a permissions
issue. Surprising that it works over EDGE though. Sure you don't have any
outbound firewalling going on with your home network?

Other way around. I threw away the apple buds and kept the cord so I could use the inline mic, and attached my nice high-quality in-ear monitors to the cord.

I would think the unix passwd command would work for changing the password, but I don't know what it would break. You can always uninstall OpenSSH and Mobile Terminal if you are paranoid about remote access.

Ah yeah I realise now that mobile terminal logs you in as "mobile". You
need to type "su" then enter the root password "alpine" to elevate yourself
to root before typing the commands.

Wow, it sounds like you've typed in a command incorrectly? All my app store
apps are fine. Without knowing what you've done, the simplest way to revert
the settings would be to re-restore your ipsw file. I'll have a quick play
to see if I can break my Apps to see what you might have done.

Hey devteam, any chance of adding the Mail.app fix to pwnage? Heaps of people who restore from backup get the issue where the Mail dir has the wrong ownership. Fix is pretty simple (no need to do a full restore):
