So we're not talking the old man's finest Manischewitz. Precocious, even then.

My grandparents and their friends had this way of saying the word "booze" that somehow made it sound like they were ladling it straight from a still out in the backyard. To me, made the hard stuff sound like some Victorian relic, or right up there with Victrola 78s.

Schoolyard delinquents giving Mr. Cotter a hard time in the outer boroughs. That could have made for some classic television, right there.

Pretty good chance I was also doing acid and smoking reefer too. But those aren't quite as obvious as drinking wine. And as I reported -- I stole the wine from my dad, he wasn't a beer drinker, and I thought, even then (for other reasons) that hard liquor was pretty unclassy.

Buzz is a funny thing, it might have been luck or the ads or Motorola. Timing matters too and the sense that it's going to be a while before Apple ships an exciting new iPhone

I might start putting some of this stuff together in one location, so far it's just been helping people out individually on Twitter or replying to blog posts.

Were you able to get the HTC IME keyboard I DMed you to work? I haven't had a chance to try it on 2.0 since the Droid is the only phone with that OS so far, but it's definitely superior to the stock Android keyboard.

That was my idea.

Hard to say, my eyes are only 54 years old, but they're not in great shape
and I had no trouble reading the screen.

The only way to tell is to try it out, I guess.

Dave, I'm just shooting in the dark here, but what's that metal assembly at the top of the battery compartment? I don't have a feel for scale, but if the SIM card doesn't go there then it's gotta be for an SD or MicroSD.

This about what you were looking for? Sorry about the OAuth, as a bonus though it only prompts once and then every time you visit its auto-login.

Actually I'm really beginning to like the keyboard. I really like the way it
suggests words, much much much better than the iPhone.

If Settings in Android 2.0 are the same as 1.6 (I have a G1) ... open the GMail prg, and with the Inbox open (vs. an individual msg; context makes a difference), hit the menu button, and Settings should be an option. Choose Settings. Scroll down that list to Notifications, and choose "Select Ringtone", and choose Silent.

Notifications Shade is the bar at the top, with little icons like the batter icon. Also the time in the upper right. It pulls down with a finger-swipe.

To turn off email notification, go into Settings-Sound
