My concerns, if I was a content creator, would be fairly simple: where can I get the most distribution for what I produce? In a way, it's a two-sided experience. A service like SoundCloud would be the *de facto* place where I'd publish my music since it's got a dense audience for certain genres (i.e. EDM). But I wouldn't put up my songs to a destination site with little traffic - I want my content to go where the eyeballs go. But SoundCloud can't get a loyal following of EDM fans if the long-tail creators start moving elsewhere. There should be a high switching cost associated with the service.

Yes, middleware piping, i.e. Gumroad, really does help the content creator make money no matter what destination experience she publishes too, but I wonder: something's gotta give on the explosion of these new destination these new long-tail sites. Maybe a Kayak for long-tail could be the solution?

Re: Charles Bonello - The Future of Mobile Payments

excellent analysis charlie. really dead on with this perspective here: "From my perspective, I believe those two conditions to be true, such that the marginal dollar allocated toward marketing generates substantially higher ROI than the marginal dollar allocated to talent."

Re: App Annie Secures $6 Million to Set the New Standard for Global App Store Market Data | App Annie

way to go bertrand + team!

Re: The Grateful Life: Disqus - My New Gig

great move Jim - i expect nothing else but "constant crushing" from you @ disqus!

Re: How to Get a Job Interview Tomorrow with Facebook Ads

Great post Sam and thanks for shedding light on this!

My favorite line: "The most important part of this campaign is your landing page. Great advertising for a product with a terrible presentation does not lead to any sales."

Re: The In List: Best Burritos in NYC

love me some calexico cart

Re: Art.sy Raises $1.25 Million From Schmidt, Murdoch, Dorsey, And Super-Arty Angels

Congrats to Carter and the whole Art.sy team - go NYC!

Re: DailyD Raises $5 Million to Focus on Family Vertical

I saw this change of direction a few months ago after the CSS of their email changed colors from the hard black/red to the softer greens - all of a sudden I saw a switch to the family space.
