CDs and DVD sales moved online. I think they simply ran out of ideas on how to be unique.

Re: How to Blow $100,000 on Word of Mouth Advertising

Thanks for using the VisitAviemore.com example, which we at 4tm-services.com helped to create. Your New Zealand example is spot on too and was a source of inspiration to us.

I promise VisitAviemore didn't cost anything like $100,000, but the feedback has been excellent. Visitors don't want to read marketing hype, they just want to get information fast. So we provide the core information on facilities, accommodation and things to do; visitors - through their blogs, YouTube videos and TripAdvisor provide their own ideas and take on what's great (and what's not) in the area.

It's been a fun project!

Re: What are social web sites?

Twitter is a great place to get a message out; terrible if you're looking to follow a conversation, particularly if multiple parties are involved. I've found FriendFeed useful - I find the rooms great for quick conversations with peers, and sometimes that's all that is required, avoiding tedious navel contemplation.

Inevitably I rely on blogs, wiki's and forums for more in-depth analysis and discussion.

I see blogs as part of the social web - after all; we're all here having a discussion using Disqus which in turn will be aggregated on FriendFeed!

Thanks for the post.

Re: FriendFeed Comments WordPress Plugin

Great to hear David, thanks.

I've also found it conflicts with JQuery. I'd really appreciate it if you could send me the changes you had to make for it to work with Mootools, I' m looking to let the user pick between the 3 in a future version, hopefully remove these problems!

cheers

Re: FriendFeed Comments WordPress Plugin

Had to make a couple of hacks, as prototype seems to conflict with Mootools, used by my blog template. Not your problem!

Great work - blog now displaying comments from FriendFeed, which keeps everything together on the blog.

For example : http://4tm-services.com/2008/06/26/oh-wow-analy...

Thanks.
