Because - if I know well - it based on use.desc and use.local.desc files. But euses is a quick tool to investigate the feature of some uncommon use flags. If euses use metadata.xml then it must scan the complete tree - but it may make it slower.

I think a good way is generating use.local.desc at emerge --metadata - it's a good solution to make this available, and don't include it in rsync-ed tree.

Re: Back to Gentoo development

Well, use.local.desc is generated now from the local flags in metadata.xml of each package. It would be nice if flagedit understood metadata.xml directly, because I'm assuming that the use.local.desc will go away at some point.

Re: Back to Gentoo development

Hi Donnie, could you explain me what you have in mind? What is missing from flagedit --list --desc ?

Re: Back to Gentoo development

Woot! I use this all the time. It would be great to support metadata.xml USE flag descriptions.

Re: SNIF Tag has launched! @ Technical Pickles

Seems like this would be useful with cats, which tend to be more independent.

Re: Boston Ruby Group Meeting June 2008 Summary @ Technical Pickles

Ah, good point. I should have been more specific.... for diff from the last commit, both are offline. But if you want to go beyond that, svn needs to be online if I recall correctly.

Here's the contents of my ~/.gitconfig:

[user]
email = "josh@technicalpickles.com"
name = "Josh Nichols"

[alias]
st = status
co = checkout
ci = commit
[color]
branch = auto
diff = auto
status = auto
[color "branch"]
current = yellow reverse
local = yellow
remote = green
[color "diff"]
meta = yellow bold
frag = magenta bold
old = red bold
new = green bold
[color "status"]
added = yellow
changed = green
untracked = cyan

Re: Boston Ruby Group Meeting June 2008 Summary @ Technical Pickles

Nice. You don't have to be online for svn diff, though. It keeps originals in the .svn/ dirs.

I wish the text was pasteable, I put some of that stuff in my ~/.gitconfig.

Re: Social Media & The Web: 4 Tools I Wish My University Used

I agree, popular people deserve better service than everyone else.

Re: louisgray.com: TweetSmart Offers Real-Time Twitter-Powered Group Link Blog

thanks donnie - we'll look in to an easy way to do that. great feedback

Re: louisgray.com: TweetSmart Offers Real-Time Twitter-Powered Group Link Blog

I really like the idea, but it's too much work. I'd rather just use a hashtag or some key phrase that you could track through Summize. I don't want to duplicate my public post in a dm.

Re: louisgray.com: RSSMeme Creator Launches Tweet2Tweet to Watch Twitter Discussion

If you're searching Summize multiple times a day for the same terms, you might want to subscribe to that search's feed. Kind of just hoping it will work out when they go public beta.

Re: Pour Some Gas on the Fire (Eagle)

Hmm. I can push to FE from BK, but BK doesn't seem to pull from FE (which is actually the direction I'd like best). I did find a sweet app for my BlackBerry called FindMe, which does automatic location updates through a FaceBook app. I also installed another BlackBerry app called LightPole beta, which seems pretty neat. No automation, but can find cool stuff near me.

Re: Pour Some Gas on the Fire (Eagle)

On its way by email, don't expect much from the Brighkite-FE app. I've yet to get it working at all.
