Remove physical presence of other people, remove the possibility of learning and improving people skills by letting kids to learn from home.

I am sorry, but going to the campus, actually meeting the other students - especially those we don't like -, having to deal with them - especially with those we don't like -, having a SOCIAL life IS one of the most important parts of the education.

I do agree, math can be learned online. People can't.
So if we move the education online we will lose a lot.
We may will have cheaper - but definitely not zero cost - education, but it won't worth that much.

Don't get me wrong, I like the idea, but not as the main way for educate people. It can be great for secondary degrees and such. But I would like to see people actually learn the most important lessons, not only the technically neccessary ones.

Re: Quid Pro No

I don't expect reciprocate behaviour. If I follow someone on twitter I don't expect them to follow back, and I don't automatically follow back either.
The fact that I find someone's tweets interesting does not mean he would find mine interesting. And the other way around.

I can understand that some people decide to unfollow, unfriend, etc. if they are not friended/followed back, but if I follow everyone then I will lose every value I have in these things.
And anyway, if somebody follows you only to be followed back, what is the value in that?

Re: Is the Customer Always Right?

So true. I have met customers who live by "the customer is always right" idea, and demand outrageous things and when you say that's not right - No, Sir, you can NOT build the complete CRM system from scratch in 3 days - they state that the customer is always right and you better do it.

That's the moment when I am prompted to say: I'm incredibly sorry Sir that we are not the company you were looking for. May I recommend you someone else?

And now I am getting close to actually do it.

Re: http://fracturedbloughts.rolandhesz.com/2009/04/21/opensim-and-open-source-secondlife/

Thank you Stefan, that was it. The fact that it is suggests that some people have a sort of religious reverence toward the social webs, trying to keep them for the One True Purpose - whatever it should be.
"I will always be clear about where I’m coming from. Start your interview preparation a month or more before you take the interview

I usually have a week notice at most before an interview. And they don't tell the company most of the time.

12 Do not negotiate compensation before you get an offer

46. After taking a job interview, decline to discuss your pay until you get a job offer

This is one of the first questions you have to answer: what is your salary expectation.

You can't even get an interview before you answer this question. And no "I'm flexible" and "it depends". No, they want exact amounts.

I wish it was not. But I liked your advices, they are practical and good :)

Re: The most annoying myth of software development

I like the cowboy synonym.
