Actually, a team of developers would work better. Have each person on the team work on hooks to the various API's, and one work on the UI. They can set up a common interface between each type of service (microblogging, search, etc) that the UI developer can then hook into. Not too hard. Just labor intensive.

You are right. People should face consequences for their hateful speech. I'm a civil libertarian, and sometimes I forget that civil liberty doesn't necessarily grant free license.

You're also right that controversy sells. He was doing his job and generating controversy. Ugh.

I did this the day before the firmware officially came out and have been rocking the 2.0 firmware on my touch. It's okay. Some of the jailbreak apps were better. Waiting for a better jailbreak tool than pwnage (which seemed a tad bit baroque in its mechanism of jailbreak)

I'm an extrovert, so this doesn't affect me so much. I'm the kind of guy that can walk into a crowded room of complete strangers and know their names, and the names of all the children by the time I walk out. So, I don't think blogging is just for the "Introverted soul". I think that instead, the introverted soul finds a comfortable form of expression in blogging.

As a member of the programming community, I can tell you that there is STRONG resistance to programming in Vista. Why? Well, there's a lot of reasons. #1) There just isn't enough market penetration to make Vista worth programming for. #2) It's unlikely that the huge corporations will EVER adopt Vista, especially now that we have a release date of 2010 for Windows 7. So why bother? #3) When SP1 was released (and we were paying attention) a whole bunch of security apps broke. Why should I write a program for Vista when a patch could break my software, and then I'm stuck having to patch it to make it work with Micro$oft's patch. All I can say to that is NO way. #4) It's not cost effective, especially considering that upgrading your development teams to Vista rapidly reaches a point of diminishing returns as 2010 approaches. Vista sales are stagnant. Sure, there is the silent majority, but they are the majority of Vista users, not the majority of computer owners. Most people who own PC's are still running XP (and in fact, the 3 people I know who have bought PC's in the last year, and who were not technical at all, specifically asked for XP over Vista and got it. The general public is hearing about the problems with Vista and want nothing to do with it.)

We run 3 laptops, and 2 desktops here. Two of the laptops run OS X Leopard (a MacBook and a Macbook Pro). One laptop runs Vista (A Sony Vaio) and that's only because we can't easily downgrade it. One desktop runs XP Pro and the other desktop (the server) is running Linux. I've used all of these machines extensively. From a programmer's point of view, there is very little difference between programming for XP and programming for Vista. It just makes no sense to invest in Vista software production when the margins are so low. For a small software house, it makes no sense at all, and for a large software house, it makes more sense to continue to support XP over Vista and slowly migrate to Vista as more people get new machines.

While I agree it sometimes pays to be an early adopter, I don't think it's true that it always pays to be an early adopter. Just ask anyone who bought an HD-DVD player or a Betamax player about early adoption, and you'll get an earful about the risks of early adoption. Moving to a new microblogging site carries similar risks. For example, if I decide to jump ship to Pownce, and my friends/followers go with me, but then half of them decide they don't like it and go back to Twitter, it's likely that the other half won't be too far behind if they are following anyone in the half that went back. By being an early adopter, I could risk losing my entire network! While that's not necessarily earth shattering, it would be upsetting.

I depend on my network for quite a lot. They feed me good links, they answer important questions, they give me up to the minute news reports (at varying levels of accuracy), and they inform me about the world from their perspective. I don't want to lose that, and I, for one, wouldn't risk jumping ship unless I was absolutely sure that everyone (or at least, the vast majority) would go where I went and that they would stay. There are also what I call "the crucial players." These are the people that I talk to on Twitter on a regular basis through @ replies and direct messages. If they aren't willing to follow me over, I certainly wouldn't go, even if it meant losing 90% of my followers to a new service.

I've been using this for a long time. Iperupload, the default app for Ipernity, is actually just a branded version of juploadr. I love it. Use it for Flickr and Ipernity.
