For instance, I watch Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow but I know that they are liberal news sources and I do not take everything that they say completely seriously and as the absolute truth. In fact, most of my political news comes from C-SPAN, who cannot show bias when it comes to hosting a talk when people call in with opinions or through interviews and the rest of the time, they show merely what is going on at the Capitol with no documentary whatsoever.

What you are completely wrong about, however, is the fact that Bill O'Reilly is just a right-leaning John Stewart. The Daily Show is on Comedy Central and is in essence a comedy show. Bill O'Reilly thinks he is an actual news source.

Re: The Psychology Behind Men and Prostitutes

Yeah, some people have Holden Caulfield syndrome! Unfortunately however, I live in a very tiny town in Pennsylvania. Surrounded by farms. And highways. I was really very lucky to find the sliding scale clinic that I did find around here in the first place, I just wish they had an oral surgeon on staff willing to do extractions and other dental surgery for low-income people in the area. That would probably cut down on the amount of money the dental surgeon they're affiliated with and refer people to, though. Health care has turned into such a downward spiral of greed.

Re: 15 Year Old Girl Disowned for Having a Brain Tumor Removed

Well that is definitely a perk of this being my website, after all.

Sorry I haven't gotten back to you with your 7 points of interests above. Believe me, it isn't being I don't have anything to say about them. Just had some important stuff going on; so I suppose I'll engage in this conversation a bit more!

My remarks are not those of playing with semantics, by any means. If you're talking about how we should not "discriminate" against any group of people regardless of what they do that they we do not understand, then that is open to all groups. And if that's so, then honour killings and female genital mutilation would also be protected under your so-called definition. Now if you meant to say that we should not discriminate against any religious groups, regardless of what they do, you should have said so.

THAT is the problem here. You do not like the fact that I am "discriminating" against a religious group. Religion has such a hold over people; many of us were raised in a household that was religious, we have stayed true to that religion as we saw we must, or stayed true to certain parts of it to claim that we were still religious, and so on. When it comes to religion, people cannot say anything bad about it, regardless of the religion it is because that is offensive; however, when something is fucked up I'm going to say that it's fucked up. I might even say that it, and the people who are doing it, are bat shit crazy. Sorry if that offends you and I do completely understand your remarks about generalizing a group. In the future I will be sure to put a disclaimer that sure, not all people in that group are as crazy as this story is. And I guess that's all I can do at this point.

Re: 15 Year Old Girl Disowned for Having a Brain Tumor Removed

Firstly, Christian Scientists is in quotes in the beginning because as I go on to mention, Christianity+science is an oxymoron. A contradiction, if you will. For a group of people who constantly throw any scientific evidence that backs up anything that they do not agree with out the window and then come out and say 'We have our own science and it's called prayer' ...well then that's called faith, not science. I think that Christian Scientists have actually come to call themselves that to fuck with people who actually take scientific evidence of something as fact. Much like the anti-choicers who call themselves pro-life yet support the war and everything else that George Bush did in his 8 year reign.

Secondly, funny for you to claim that one thing is offensive, yet go on to say some things that can also be taken offensively; see your 'any intelligent person would have realized that' comment, as well as your 'as a so-called feminist' comment.

It does not matter whether or not this is an "extreme case;" in fact, when it comes to corruption within any religion for any reason, ESPECIALLY Christianity and Catholicism, stories like this won't make it to the media and the only reason this story did was because someone had the balls to write it up on a website.

You're very right that a lot of religions and cultures have aspects that might seem crazy to people outside of that group; however, it does not make them right. Do you think honour killings are just fine and dandy and people should stop worrying so much about them happening just because those people live in a certain culture that we just don't understand? Should we start writing about how female genital mutilation really isn't such a big deal because we just don't understand the culture that these people have? Um, I don't think so. The only thing that struck a chord within you to leave the comment that you did is that I said that religion is bat shit crazy--a comment that I will not try to cover my ass for or try to alleviate any situation that can arise from it because I firmly believe that it is. And regardless of whether or not you view certain religions as "a little feminist" or not, this feminist who is also an atheist, has a hard time trying to comprehend the fact that the entire business of religion--and yes, it is a business--supports women at all because from where I'm sitting, women always, always, always get the short end of the stick when it comes to religion as a whole, regardless of the religion you practice. And to add, people who practice religion, especially Christianity, are by no means, not even by a long shot, a minority group.

Re: Mexican City Government Launches Free HPV Vaccination Campaign

Thank you for the links. Like you said, this is a time of war. We are in the middle of two atrocious wars that we should have never been in in the first place; but nonetheless, there are American people who wish to serve their country and fight this war so who is to stop them? The military is the only profession I know of that can be excused for openly discriminating against a certain type of people and Americans should not have to deal with being discriminated against by a country that they are a citizen of and that they love and wish to serve; no matter what.

Re: Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Campaign of North Carolina Answer Teens’ Questions about Sex

While yes, in a perfect world all parents would be the first people to step up and speak to their children about safe sex, this is not the case not only in some cases, but in most cases. There are a few parents out there who do have open, nonjudgmental lines of communication with their children, but most parents hesitate to speak to their children about sex either at all, or until a time where they personally feel their children should be thinking about sex, which in most cases, is much later than their children begin to think about sex and even begin having sex. You also need to think about people who raise their children in strict religious families who spread misinformation to their children about sex, such as condoms having holes in them or shoving religious propaganda down their throats, which educates no one. And then there are unconventional families, such as my own; I was raised by my father and received no "talk" or sex education from him, I had to rely on the women in my life to educate me properly. So while we can agree on the fact that all parents should speak to their children about sex, that is not always the case, which is why it is so important to have organizations such as the Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Campaign of North Carolina and others that are working to give curious children, teens, and young adults the right information that is going to protect them.

Re: The New Christian Attempt to Convert–”It’s Not a Cult”

Well when you insist upon saying that you will be praying for me and that god loves me too, that is not called tolerance. There is no such thing as a safe day to have sex without protection and when we do not have sex education in schools, rumors like that one start up within teenagers who take these rumors as fact and then before you know it, we have a baby boom within teenagers.

Re: The Tumbleweed - Not your average Easter bunny!

Hairy no? Catholics talk more shit and "invite people into their cult to brainwash them" every chance they get. To simply believe that atheists enjoy being different is the poorest assumption I have heard, although I have heard it often. You forgot to add that atheism is just a phase because that is often a great critique that we hear.

The bullshit you just spewed can be turned around to reflect onto yourself, especially considering you have accepted society's way of handling a different opinion. Instead of accepting people for who they are, you choose to become angry and bash atheism most likely because you do not fully understand what it means to be an atheist. People are often very afraid of what they do not understand, which is what you have demonstrated throughout your comment. Doesn't the Bible reference the fact that you should be accepting of those unlike yourself? Please read up on your own belief system before scrutinizing what you refuse to understand.

Re: Bristol Palin Believes Abstinence is “Not Realistic”

While you and your fiance claim to be virgins, that mentality does not work for everyone and in most cases, (while you've expressed certainly not in your case, but in most cases) abstinence is not realistic in the least. Human beings are animals and we have let religion and our religion-based society claim otherwise, but it is true. We are animals and we have hormones--Hormones that, scientifically speaking, run our lives since they make the bulk of our emotionally and physically-based decisions for us. While you believe that abstinence is a sign of maturity and confidence, a person can very well be mature and confident no matter what their sexual history says.

Now, onto the big factors you bring up in your comment---What does this say about people who do not believe in marriage? Do they simply remain virgins their entire lives because they don't accept what society has shoved down their throats since they were toddlers? We do not live in a society that strictly lives by the unspoken "rules" and go through life waiting for the big milestones we are told that we have to hit---Relationship, marriage, sex, babies. That just is not how we all live our lives, as much as religion and our religion-based society would like to think so and not all people are religious or spiritual at all, which is why in most cases and for most people, abstinence is not realistic.

Re: The Tumbleweed - Ajab’s School Trip To Sentosa 49

Thanks, bro!
