Wow. This got me a little choked up. *wipes tear* Eventhough I don't have any kids of my own yet, I try to keep in contact with my two little nephews as much as possible. With me being here in San Diego and they being in the Bay Area, we stay in contact via internet (skype), and sharing moments through photos and videos.

I love them both like they are my own. :)

So true! Late afternoon/early evening just seems to warm everything and give it these completely rich feel... Glad I'm not the only one who's noticed everything *that* much more now that I'm trying to capture it. :)

My brother-in-law and I had a conversation about this just a couple of weeks ago. And yes, I'm completely looking at things differently since picking up photography.

I'm experiencing everything you mentioned above, but I think the biggest thing I've noticed is lighting and how it affects objects and my surroundings. More specifically - natural lighting. It's incredible how the lighting in the late afternoon/early evening can make something look that much better. I guess that's why most photographers prefer to shoot at that time.

No. It did the same thing to me last night and I don't think that
it's all that beneficial. So, I'm gonna have to update this post to

Wowza! This was very helpful! I love Canon, especially since I use a
Canon HF10 for my video shooting. So I might as well get a camera of
the same brand since I like their quality.

First off, I'm a Canon guy so I'm sort've biased towards Canon. But you can't really go wrong with Nikon either. There are some really good entry level dslr like the Canon XSi(~$700) or the newer Canon T1i(~$1000). You can also go used and get the Canon 40D which is an excellent camera.

If you can do without the video which the T1i offers, then I would recommend going used and getting the 40D. Or if you have the money, get the 50D which is the newer verision. This is what I have and I love it!

Just remember, you'll probably be spending more on the lens than the camera body. Good lenses make a BIG difference in photo quality. Of course, the person behind the camera does as well. ;) Good Luck!

Oh, definitely ask others like @brandice (Canon XSi), @djsteen (Canon XTi) and @coreyharris (Nikon D60)

I went to install Disk Inventory X and realized I already had it. I just freed up about 70gigs of space by removing DVD movies and EyeTV media that I no longer need. I'm checking out Singular now. I'm curious to see how much more space I can free up by removing duplicate files, especially photos.

He has a good eye! Maybe I should get him a nice little point & shoot for his birthday so he can take his own pictures. He knows how to use one better than mom and dad. :)

Its really a matter of preference. Some people like pictures that don't have alot of processing while others like it. Personally, I like both.

It's hard to tell in the photo, are they the chuck all stars? I just bought my first pair ever a week ago. Love them! I'm also thinking of getting multiple colors.
