This seems like a really odd premise for an article. Essentially arguing that the long tail of artists are... too expensive for multi-billon dollar streaming businesses to host?

The costs of storing binary blobs on various cloud hosting providers are surely negligible compared to the other costs involved in running an online business.

Storing a few tens of megabytes worth of data from a "hobbyist playing to an empty room" is the least they can do.

Detroiter here.

Moroun was the absolute worst. Slumlord, malignant presence in local politics, etc.

Moroun never did anything other than the barest minimum to maintain the crossing.

It makes it so that someone can't steal your phone and break into it by replacing the TouchID sensor.

If it's truly yours, get it repaired by an authorized repair center. Simple.

It's very adaptive to the stories you drill into, so if you only click on stories from a few sources it'll be narrow...

I've been using it for a few months and it never takes more than a few seconds to launch and update on a 3 year old iPad so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

How many of the notifications that you get on your phone do you _really_ need to interact with? 25%? 15%? For me, it's probably less than 10% -- texts from the wife, emails from my boss. Everything else can wait (or be ignored entirely). It's liberating to be able to know at a glance, without being interrupted.

Does the application have to log to the same filesystem it runs on? One reason so many POSIX/Unix things log to /var is that its safe to assume that it's a very busy (yet transient) filesystem so it's reasonable to treat it differently from other mounted things.

I can see my Pushbullet notifications on my Apple Watch (I have notification forwarding turned on for Pushbullet) but what would be really great would be a full WatchKit extension (full support for notes and images). Is this on the roadmap at all?

Tagging is something that works differently for people with lots of followers and for the rest of us mere mortals. ;-)

I get a small enough amount of interaction with my posts on the various sites that use this mechanism that I pretty much always want to be notified (at some level) when it happens. I realize this is completely different for people who might get tagged dozens or even hundreds of times per day.

The Microtronics EPs and the _Mother Is The Milky Way_ EP were never widely available, not to mention things like the Paris Black Session live set. If the quality of the two demos posted above is indicative of things that are in the vault, they would seem to be worth hearing as well.

Yep, IIRC the stabilization is the "secret sauce" in their software. There was a Hyperlapse update a couple of days ago (in time for iOS 8), I suspect they've probably got another in the works for the new hardware.

I started out using Uber (as a passenger) but now give at least 75% of my business to Lyft, because of Uber's smelly business practices. Knowing Arrington is an investor is yet anther reason to steer more business away from them.
