To answer a few questions not addressed here:

We are not planning to live stream PodCamp NH. Unlike a regular conference, the value of a PodCamp is in being there and participating. You can’t duplicate the atmosphere of learning, sharing and growing by watching from afar. Some sessions, like Hans Mundahl’s session on online broadcasting with his students, may stream, and I’m sure there will be plenty of YouTube and FlipCam videos popping up online after as well.

What to bring:

Laptop, extension cords, adapters for projectors, flash drives, old school stuff like pens and paper if you prefer, flip cams, smart phones, cam corders. Feel free to bring guitars, harmonicas etc and break into song – yes, it’s that kind of feel-good, learn a lot, make connections in realtime conference.

This is social media, so it’s hard to avoid having your picture taken, then getting tagged and bagged and posted on a Facebook wall like a social media trophy. That being said, photographers and videographers, try to make your subjects look good! It’s just kind! Taking shots straight on, sideways or up from the ground never makes anyone look good.

I recommend all Diva Shots™ all the time (raise the camera, smart phone or flipcam/camcorder up to a 45 degree angle and slightly higher than your subject’s head, looking slightly down on them. That shot makes us all look good. And thinner. We like thinner.)

It seems this person didn't like our tribute to NH's attempt to rebrand itself after the Old Man in the Mountain's nose fell off, or want to be associated with education. We've been told they don't like how similar our logo is, regardless of reason. So we'll be changing the logo. AND we get to do it in 24 hours, since we just found out about this today by snail mail.

Really, NH Department of Tourism, if you're going to be like that, a simple call, email or tweet days ago would suffice, we're a team of very nice people who just like our state and are happy to comply with your request - you could have saved yourself the snotty letter, legal fees and certified postage.

I am away from the computer today, so I'm leaving it up to my VERY CAPABLE team to decide how the logo will change.

Geechee. I totally hear you. But free doesn't have to be better or even as good. Encarta vs Britanica taught us that.

People are already Putting iPhone mounts in their car to use Google maps mostly hands free. And Maps Navigation isn't tied to just a phone. Android is Open sourced, there's no reason Google or someone else could make a dedicated GPS with this.

This is just the first warning shot. But it's going to be an ugly battle that Google is more well equiped to fight.

Free is not always better. For example: I can't drive and chew gum at the same time, so a map I can barely see on my phone that I would have to hold while trying to drive is not good for me (or anyone). So, no Google Map app here - sticking with my large screen, safe driving TomTom :) (also @clubtomtom on Twitter actually replies to people and helps if you need it - None of the online Google presences ever reply to people. Plus, their products are clunky. Don't get me started on Google Voice... Docs...)
