I agree, I get *TONS* of value out of Twitter and Facebook. It's not all about building an online brand. They can enrich your life too.

I'm just not a fan of the eggs-in-one-basket approach. Selling without being manipulative is something that tugs at my conscience too. I want to sell more, but the same time I don't want to feel like I've hypnotized anyone.

Anyway, those are probably thoughts for another post. This advice may not be for everyone, and there are definitely some risks involved.

I just think that the article was trying to hit more on the fact that people need a kick in the pants to pursue what they should really be doing. I know I do :)

Re: Don’t Sell Out! They don't have to be second jobs. They can be hobbies that also earn money, and might eventually become a primary source of income in the near future.

I think the point of the article is that people give up on what they're wired to do because it's "too hard".

While it's incredibly important to value things like family and spouses, if you're not finding time to pursue what's REALLY important to you, you're just not being creative ;) Also, I think the difference in your demeanor doing what you truly love would make your family happy.

Families and friends are more supportive than you might think... don't ask them to give up their time with you, ask them to be a part of your journey!

Re: Ask the Readers: What Are Your Morning Inspirations?

I also do well with wordless music.

Re: Ask the Readers: What Are Your Morning Inspirations?

Dustin,

Wow, thanks for the comments! I don't think regularly reminding yourself of who you are is a recipe for a rut. I think if you meditated on the topic and took it to the extreme then sure. I've just noticed that in many commercial ventures, people feel fake when they're trying to turn a profit. It might just be me.

You're right: if you're not emotional or vulnerable by nature, than it would feel forced and weird. And I guess on the flip side, those can be used insincerely to make you feel closer to the person... I know, it's a delicate balance.

Re: A Guide For When Your Day Has Been Blown to Pieces

You should have really just taken the day off :)

Re: A Guide For When Your Day Has Been Blown to Pieces

Thanks Celes!
