I'm content with
using the right tool for the job and not sticking with one cms for dogmatic
reasons.

Re: Acer Aspire One Netbook

I got about 3.5 hours on the small 3-cell battery. If I were to buy
this machine again, and use it at a conference its first day out, I'd
get the 6-cell version.

Re: Space or Space Space

The iphone's onscreen keyboard has the period character on a different
screen, so you have to hit two keys to get a period. But it does have a
shortcut for the period -- hit the spacebar twice. It's a habit that will
be with me for a while. :)

Re: Kindle Books Should Be 50% Cheaper

The iphone kindle app is pretty cool. You can't get subscriptions -- books
only -- but still cool. First, it's free, so it let me try kindle books
without a big investment up front. Second, having books on your phone is
really convenient for lunch or waiting in line. One less bulky thing to
carry around.

Too bad there are still a lot of books without a kindle edition. I click on
the "tell publisher I want a kindle edition" link a lot more often now.

Re: Schrute Buck Purchasing Power Rises

Thanks for posting this. I was entertained. :)

I wouldn't call it absurd, but it's cute. Neat little marketing strategy for a small, tight-knit town or community (maybe just Main St. retailers or something).

Re: Shout’Em: Roll Your Own Twitter

What makes Twitter work is the ubiquitous inputs -- sms, iphone app, desktop, mobile web, email, facebook, etc. I like shoutme's slick interface and easy configuration settings, but until there's more ways to interact with your shoutme powered account, it'll be hard for users to build up their communities because members will want more input options.

Re: How to Add Structure to an Idea-Packed Day

"bopping from idea to idea is unsustainable. It's a huge leap in browser interfaces. That's the last feature that got me really excited again as a FF user.

Re: How to disable TinyMCE per fields in Drupal | avocado shake (dot) net

I've gotten tired of tinymce and its multitude of weirdness. fckeditor is
looking A LOT more solid these days.

The fckeditor configuration page has fields where you can specify which
textareas to display the rich text editor. You can specify fields by
html-id and/or path. If you're logged in as uid 1, every eligible textarea
will have a little note below it telling you its html-id for the fckeditor
configuration.

I suggest you guys give fckeditor a try. After 2+ years of tinymce, I'm
making the switch.

Re: What kind of clutter is in your life?

I'm with you on the "head clutter", Carrie. I have a feeling that's what we're going to see from Twitter soon. Maybe they should have rolled out the payment plan before turning off the tap though.
