I absolutely love being a dad, and with 3 kids ranging from 3 months to 14 years old, I've got my hands full. The profound impact that kids have on our lives has it's own unique mix of blessings and challenges, and for me, it was a struggle to learn how to do things in 5 minute intervals. No longer could I sit and "focus" on something, unless I wanted to do it after the kids went to bed. By that time, though, I am exhausted too and don't feel at my best. I wouldn't trade it for the world, and I'm sure you wouldn't either. I've enjoyed seeing you include the twins into the normal flow of content - it has enriched the reading experience for me. Looks really cool Louis. I just bought Photoshop Elements for editing, and I use Flickr for sharing. Not sure I'll make the jump, but it does sound interesting. Good looking family shots too!

You are ABSOLUTELY correct, cre8Buzz will definitely have to find a hook or draw.

We believe the next generation of users will be drawn into Web 2.0 through a vertical passion or affiliation. Ex: Many if not most of Active Rain users are first time Social Network users drawn in through their affiliation with Real Estate. We believe this trend can and will continue. By targeting the 1000's of off-line communities, like Real Estate, cre8Buzz can be a vertical destination for people already engaged in offline communities. Communities, such as Adoption, illness related causes (MS. Breast Cancer Society, Autism), Brewers, MLM, Social Causes etc. Anything that has a convention or an Expo, is a offline community that can be brought online. Partnering with the official organizations, or groups can provide excellent conversion opportunities to get people who never considered or saw VALUE in joining a social media or network site.

Getting the next generation of users is a real opportunity, The strategy is determining how cre8Buzz will get them and what value cre8Buzz will need to provide.

I think you're going to have to find that hook to draw people in and keep them coming back. One thing that comes to mind would be partnering with another Web 2.0 company who is in the process of creating a universal profile that can be carried, transported or plugged into any social networking site for users. If you were be the place where new users come first to complete a profile, then there may be a reason for them to continue coming back and remaining loyal, even if they transport the profile to other social networks.

I think you have to find something that experienced users will think is cool yet new users find to be easy, intuitive and helpful. If the Buzz becomes the hub for many other types of online activities for users, then it will give them reasons to continue coming back to the site as well.

Just my thoughts.

Good to hear that things are progressing. Better to take a little extra time and get the plan right, and again, I'm impressed that you have taken so much of the feedback and been willing to incorporate it into the plan.

I think there has got to be a way to make the Buzz a destination site and not a "when I get around to it site." Having a unique and exciting feature or benefit for each of the communities is something key to increasing traffic and destination. I imagine that this could be something to incorporate into a work plan as justification for needed funding. These types of features and benefits could happen internally or through partnerships, much like Facebook and others do. Then, you could ultimately look for ways to monetize around these key items that keep people coming back. Just my thoughts.

I think it probably is typical to see a drop. There is a life cycle of a customer too. They go through many stages, as you mentioned. If, by the time they get through one lifecycle, you haven't sold them on the benefits of staying, then they will probably leave.

Here's the thing, from my point of view, my blog featured on the buzz is a big reason why I came here. I recognize that networking is good too, but there are other, much larger sites for that (FB & MS). cre8Buzz is very low on my referral traffic stats, in spite of me being active and having top rated content.

I recognize that there is branding value of what I do, which goes beyond referral traffic; however, if you could find a way to help me increase referral traffic to my blog (like StumbleUpon does), then I would be compelled to visit more often.
