The latest version of tweetdeck seems to have fixed my issues, see http://www.johnmilner.com/2009/07/update-on-twe... . If it's still not working for you, I would try totally un-installing tweetdeck from all your machines and starting fresh on one machine. You should start with a new tweetdeck account (use a different email address) and then set up your groups. Once that computer is set up (and let it run for at least 20 min to fully sync) install the latest tweetdeck on your other machines. I should note here, you should un-install tweetdeck and delete any folders in your application settings folder (assuming you're on windows).

That should do it for you.

Seesmic works. I tried the desktop app, I feel it needs some work but I think thats mostly Adobe Air issues. I have been using their web app and it works if you dont want groups, which is sort of where I am now with my twitter reading.

Good luck, and hopefully you can get tweetdeck working for you.

Thats a good thought. I've tried that however that is relying on twittermail and gcal being active. I had been using this process for a wile but twittermail and/or gcal would go down and I wouldn't know until it was too late.

Assuming these 2 service are working its a good solution, thanks for brining this up!

Thanks! Group syncing built into twitter for application independence would be nice, but you're right, I think its something that we need to wait for Twitter to solve.

See my updated post here http://www.johnmilner.com/2009/06/tweetdeck-syn... in the newest version 0.26.4 TweetDeck seems to have fixed the sync issues, at least in my testing it worked. Key thing to note, currently tweetdesk only syncs changes about every 20 min.

Hopefully TweetDeck work for you, its working for me now.

I agree with Matthew. I really like this idea and love evernote, but had not thought of this workflow, but it is still easier to "favorite" a tweet and go back with the twitter web interface to save it. the iphone app (going to mail and relaunching tweetdeck) just takes too long. But it's a direct workflow, and I enjoy finding new ways to use evernote! Thanks for the post.

Iain - thanks for the follow up. please let me know if there is any additional information I can provide to help out. I think tweetdeck is a great client but the sync just isnt working for me, and thats problematic when its billed as working and there is very little documentation or access to support.

The google reader organization is working well, thanks again, i've definitely added some tiers (about 7) but mostly to manage data that comes in the flow, as you mentioned, I've moved to pulling a lot of data into rss that i get from other sources for the times I'm disconnected, and for an increase in differing topics that i'm now following, but that's another story.

My problem with consolidating everything is that I do love RTM, its easy to Jott or twitter into. Plus RTM has great sorting and workflow processes and the gmail integration is good. That said, i do find it easy to skim over those tasks (i guess email reminders might help). It might be just as easy to email myself an action item, but RTM seems to handle that well.

Thanks for describing your workflow here. I keep much of my workflow in gmail in a similar manner, i just tend to keep in the inbox rather than file the messages. Although, i think i might give it a try and keeping the messages in the inbox (for most action items).

On another note, did you happen to check out the Luther Rice Society roadshow GW was doing in NYC earlier this year?

Eric, would you mind expanding a bit on the labels and workflow you use? I primarily use gmail for everything and have primarily used labels as a way to 1) go back and find information and 2) hide emails as they come in that are less important till I have time to process those labels. but not as part of my workflow (normally i use super stars and a zero inbox strategy for that)

I seem to be caught between using remember the milk for tasks (with the gmail pulgin) and gmail for email. However, i often times end up forgetting about the tasks i have in RTM. So I am interested to see what your workflow in terms of labels used and process you have found to best suit you. thanks.

Thanks for the post! I've giving this a try and am really liking this new org structure. Its much better than my 75 haphazard folders. Have you tried the post rank yet? i'm wondering how people use it and how they like using it.

@TY thanks for the find. the first one i couldnt get to work either. but the second has a new version release located at http://wordcountplus.mozdev.org/betarelease.html that i was able to install and work. you do have to click and then hover to get the word count, but it is better than nothing.

Thanks for the response. I would love to see an entry only box. I do understand the space constraints. The biggest problem i've had is any time i paste something into the box i get scroll bars, and they take up almost the entire box so i cant see a word that i am writing. Maybe, if it was lighter on the graphics or the graphics were below the entry box rather than to the side taking up precious width, it might be better. But you obviously have a better handle of your gadget, just my 2C.

I added it, but really hate the entry box. I too find it ugly, and that takes more away from the gadget then is usefulness. I'll stick with something else until they update the UI. I would like to see an option or a new gadget that would provide JUST an entry box without the timeline. Something like twitterfox works better.

This bot does'nt seem to work for me. i never get a response back. I am following mytrade, mytrade is following me, and I am not blocking them. Any suggestions? how i can make this work? i think it would be a great help!
