If it's still not working for you, I would try totally un-installing tweetdeck from all your machines and starting fresh on one machine. You should start with a new tweetdeck account (use a different email address) and then set up your groups. Once that computer is set up (and let it run for at least 20 min to fully sync) install the latest tweetdeck on your other machines. I should note here, you should un-install tweetdeck and delete any folders in your application settings folder (assuming you're on windows).

That should do it for you.

Seesmic works. I tried the desktop app, I feel it needs some work but I think thats mostly Adobe Air issues. I have been using their web app and it works if you dont want groups, which is sort of where I am now with my twitter reading.

Good luck, and hopefully you can get tweetdeck working for you.

Re: Tweetdeck Syncing Sucks

Hi John. I've tried that however that is relying on twittermail and gcal being active. I had been using this process for a wile but twittermail and/or gcal would go down and I wouldn't know until it was too late.

Assuming these 2 service are working its a good solution, thanks for brining this up!

Re: Week 2 – Project 365

Thanks!

Re: Tweetdeck Syncing Sucks

Thanks! I really like this idea and love evernote, but had not thought of this workflow, but it is still easier to "favorite" a tweet and go back with the twitter web interface to save it. the iphone app (going to mail and relaunching tweetdeck) just takes too long. But it's a direct workflow, and I enjoy finding new ways to use evernote! Thanks for the post.

Re: Tweetdeck Syncing Sucks

Iain - thanks for the follow up. please let me know if there is any additional information I can provide to help out. Plus RTM has great sorting and workflow processes and the gmail integration is good. That said, i do find it easy to skim over those tasks (i guess email reminders might help). It might be just as easy to email myself an action item, but RTM seems to handle that well.

Thanks for describing your workflow here. I keep much of my workflow in gmail in a similar manner, i just tend to keep in the inbox rather than file the messages. Although, i think i might give it a try and keeping the messages in the inbox (for most action items).

On another note, did you happen to check out the Luther Rice Society roadshow GW was doing in NYC earlier this year?

Re: How I manage my time

Hi John,

How is the Google Reader Tiered organization coming along?

My work flow used to be to add things to something like RTM or even Google
tasks, but I would never open the to-do lists to see them. If something was
not in my attention stream it just simply didn't exist. It was a pain to go
back to those items as well.

I simply label EVERYTHING that needs a follow-up, reply, action item, or
other as "to-answer". It could easily be named "action" or something like
that as well. I made the labels fire engine red in gmail, then search
"label:to-answer" or just click the "to-answer" label on the left hand side.

This brings up my action items and I can easily see how many items exist in
this "to-answer inbox" and know how I am doing on them. If I come across
one that needs work from someone else, I move onto the next one. After
awhile they all get processed.

The same system exists within outlook, but using Flags. Things I have to
read later get flagged, or need some action - same thing.

Let me know if this helps.

Re: How I manage my time

Eric, would you mind expanding a bit on the labels and workflow you use? I primarily use gmail for everything and have primarily used labels as a way to 1) go back and find information and 2) hide emails as they come in that are less important till I have time to process those labels. but not as part of my workflow (normally i use super stars and a zero inbox strategy for that)

I seem to be caught between using remember the milk for tasks (with the gmail pulgin) and gmail for email. However, i often times end up forgetting about the tasks i have in RTM. So I am interested to see what your workflow in terms of labels used and process you have found to best suit you. thanks.

Re: The 8-Hour MacBook

Wow, i think i need to turn in my macbook air for one these.

Re: In search of the perfect Twitter client for my PC – looking for feedback!

test

Re: Prioritizing and Organizing Feeds in Google Reader

Not yet other than just trying it out with my own feed. I would love to see an entry only box. I do understand the space constraints. The biggest problem i've had is any time i paste something into the box i get scroll bars, and they take up almost the entire box so i cant see a word that i am writing. Maybe, if it was lighter on the graphics or the graphics were below the entry box rather than to the side taking up precious width, it might be better. But you obviously have a better handle of your gadget, just my 2C.

Re: Twitter in Gmail will further distract me from using it for email

That's not a bad idea of having a super-slim, text-box only option. I'll put that on our ToDo list. As far as the UI goes, its pretty tough to come up with something that works in only, what 140px wide. Will look into it though...

Re: Twitter in Gmail will further distract me from using it for email

I added it, but really hate the entry box. I too find it ugly, and that takes more away from the gadget then is usefulness. I'll stick with something else until they update the UI. I would like to see an option or a new gadget that would provide JUST an entry box without the timeline. Something like twitterfox works better.

Re: First photo with my new 50D

True. but it was late and i had been drinking. what do you expect.

Re: Me at the office

Sometimes you just have to vent it out.

Re: Wallstrip Turns TWO Today

Happy birthday Wall Strip and Howard!
