You say "these people I know" or "some friends on the internet", but you're not friends, but you feel as though you are. One day someone will come up with a term for those (non) relationships.

Re: Gmail and MobileMe - Living Together in Perfect Harmony

You should be able to copy your emails from your gmail IMAP folders over to your MobileMe account, and then have access to your archive.

Re: Gmail and MobileMe - Living Together in Perfect Harmony

octopus, you're right. Any mail sent directly to your MobileMe account will bypass the gmail accounts. Of course, you could setup a rule in Mail.app to forward any messages sent to an @me.com account to your gmail account, and then archive them. I prefer to only have the one gmail address that I give out, so this isn't the biggest problem.

Re: Gmail and MobileMe - Living Together in Perfect Harmony

Joel, Unless you enable gmail in mail.app, you won't see those emails. One way around this is to enable gmail in Mail.app, and then copy all your gmail archived mails over to your MobileMe account, and then disable gmail. Of course, you'll then have 2 copies of everything (even though you'll only see one), but that's a good thing.

Re: Gmail and MobileMe - Living Together in Perfect Harmony

rima, go into the Settings application on your iPhone, choose “Mail, Contacts, Calendars”, choose MobileMe and then you should have the option to choose which SMTP server you want to use. For reference, look at the screenshots above. If you can't find it, please let me know.

Re: 2nd Gen Accelerators, Rails and Attachment Fu - Jordan Brock - Pith.

This was a while ago now, but from memory it was before I had started using passenger/mod_rails. It wasn't a good night when I ran into this problem. On a deadline (of course), and nothing was making any sense. So, at least something good came out of it :)

Re: The Slow Decline of Internet Explorer and Slower Rise of Firefox - Jordan Brock - Pith.

I definitely have a "near enough is good enough" attitude towards IE6. Somethings just aren't possible, or would require too much time for little reward to implement. I spent a bit of time on the home page, because obviously that's the most graphical and most important, but otherwise, as long as the content is (mostly) visible.

I would expect that if it drops to 10% or so of total usage, I'd consider dropping support for it entirely. And if it started getting close to that figure, I might display a message recommending that people upgrade.

Re: We’re finally in.

Hey there Dean! I'm assuming there's just a display difference between 10.5.X and 10.4.X.

When you say that you're not able to list your other email addresses, do you mean in the "Email Address" field? You should just be able to include them all as a comma separated list.

Of course, this may not be something that you're able to do under Tiger. I'm sorry, but I don't have access to a Tiger machine so I can't really help out. Any one else?

Re: Gmail and MobileMe - Living Together in Perfect Harmony - Jordan Brock - Pith.

The simplest way is to, before you disable Gmail in Mail.app on your computer, copy all of the messages from Gmail across to your MobileMe account. Because each server is an IMAP server, you should just be able to copy between the two, just like copying files between two folders. Then, once you've copied everything, just disable Gmail again.

Re: Gmail and MobileMe - Living Together in Perfect Harmony - Jordan Brock - Pith.

If you set the SMTP server on your iPhone to smtp.gmail.com, the message will, by default, be sent from your gmail address. You only need to configure additional addresses if you want to send from a non-gmail address.

You won't be able to use the web version of MobileMe to send email in this way.

Re: blug - a blog for lu

Zounds!

Re: Ev puts twitter to sleep - Jordan Brock - Pith.

This is me testing out the Disqus comments form.
