I'm glad you like it. Are you planning on attending boco? If so, you can actually grab the code to put the "I'm attending" badge on this blog. The TTL will tell DNS servers how long to cache your records. You should set it at 300 to make your DNS changes go faster. It won't help you this time, but it's a good change to make if you are planning on making a lot of DNS changes in the near future.

Re: Lazyfeed + RSSCloud + PubSubHubBub = Real Real-time

Thank you Josh. There's no way to guarantee that people will respect the 48x48px constraint. Why not embrace it and let people use whatever image they want? Do we need to copy every detail from twitter right down to the number of pixels in an avatar?? Why not let people use whatever image they want and leave it up to each client to worry about how they want to display them? The algorithm we use at EventVue for making avatars square is to center a box that is 80% of the smallest side of the original image in the middle of the image (no it's not perfect, but it's not bad either).

Re: Compare The Old and the New Google, Side By Side

I wrote a search plugin for Firefox for anyone who wants to try it out on a more regular basis:
http://www.onlineaspect.com/2009/08/10/google-s...

Re: PubSubHubBub and RSSCloud : Adding Them To Your Wordpress Blog

Yes, they both work with feedburner.

Re: Make Your Blog Real-Time Now With the rssCloud Plugin

There is also a PubSubHubbub plugin available that I wrote:
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/pubsubhubbub/

We really need to get these all rolled into one plugin for all this real-time goodness.

Re: David Sacks PayPal Resume

I like the way he shares the credit with the team. For example, I could put my feed at http://www.joshfraser.com/status and include an alias field in my RSS called "joshfraz". Clients could store my alias enabling you to message @joshfraz, even though the full url is actually used behind the scenes. If you are following me, you would use my alias, otherwise you would use the full URL. There might be issues with collisions on the client side since there's no way to enforce global uniqueness, but we could address that by reverting to the full URL in those rare cases.

I admit it's not a perfect solution, but I'm throwing it out there anyway as an alternative way of thinking about things.

Re: rssCloud design issue (Scripting News)

25 hours feels really short to me. The fact that you have to resubscribe more often than most blogs on the internet are updated seems backwards. While I understand the desire to have built in garbage collecting, you now introduce people who would be resubscribing to thousands of feeds every single night. Wouldn't that cost you far more computing power than having a few unwanted feeds lying around? It seems like there's a better trade-off between convenience for the subscriber (I want to do it as little as possible) and having a way for clouds to handle garbage collection. Wouldn't a 30-90 day window be a better value to recommend?

Re: Snappy retarded answers (Scripting News)

BTW, if you want any indication that there's FUD going on -- Brad Fitz was invited to present at the Crunchup but who spoke for RSS and the "real time web." That's the broken architecture we're all trying to fix. I don't care which protocol wins. As you pointed out, I'm not making any money on this. I'd love to see rssCloud take off & when it does I'll be first in line to support it.

Sometimes you have to pick a horse, but at the end of the day, we're on the same team.

Re: Snappy retarded answers (Scripting News)

Okay -- big companies like Google can't help but screwing with stuff outside
their control whether they want to or not, so guys like me will practically
hit back as a reflex -- to prevent the attack. However in this case, the FUD
was already flying. I'm not going to lay down. I make to make that really
really clear. I'm not trying to get anyone or stop anything, but rssCloud is
going to have a chance.

Why shouldn't Google step up and implement it? It's not like anyone but them
is going to make money off this stuff.

Aside from that, can you count the number of disclaimers in my post, and you
STILL took offense.

The disclaimer is in the title of the post!

It's retarded. I'm just trying to clarify that PubSubHubbub (that's what we're talking about, right?) isn't owned by Google like you keep saying. Look at SuperFeedr. Look at the people in the Google Group.
