There are 2 gas taxes in CA: Federal and State.

The Federal Gas Tax pays for federal roads and highway repair. But a major problem now is that because high gas prices are causing people to drive less, we're collecting less gas taxes and have less money to repair critical transportation infrastructure.

The State Gas Tax should only go for transportation repairs, but now some people think it should be used to shore up California's growing budget deficit.

Right now, oil companies hold the leases to 68 million acres of federal property, believed to contain enough oil to fuel the country for 14 years, yet they are not drilling on it. We're telling them to "use it or loose it": start drilling now, or you lose the lease.

Gas Tax revenues pay for the nation's highways and infrastructure.

Now you need to enable "friendfeed" comments left on blog posts to show back up on the originating blog as comments or trackbacks. You could also add an optionthat allowed someone to CC their blog comment on friendfeed.
