They meant to send a statement to a customer that requested it. Either way, everything I said still applies. Having worked at a bank, I remember jumping through all kinds of hoops to send data to our vendors and recently acquired companies.

Re: CPK Server Fired for Tweets: Did He Deserve It?

He sent the tweet to California Pizza Kitchen's corporate Twitter account (@calpizzakitchen). This was not some tweet where he is just expressing his opinion about his job. This isn't even an example of the company looking for dirt on employees. He saw fit to send the tweet to his employer's corporate Twitter account (@calpizzakitchen). He specifically sent the message to them. What did he think was going to happen? If he mailed a letter to corporate expressing the same sentiment would we blame the Postal Service? If he called would be blame the phone company? It's likely that he thought that because he used an alias that he wouldn't get caught. Now, it looks like he's trying to milk it to be internet famous.

Re: Is Your GPS-Enabled Camera Phone Giving Out Private Info?

That shows that RIM respects privacy as this SHOULD be an opt-in kind of thing. Can you imagine posting pictures of your studio which end up providing the exact location of your home to everyone online? You can test this by creating an account using an email address that no one knows. However, with so many companies using Google Apps it is possible that one could give Facebook access to a company email account.

So many people are wondering how Facebook is suggesting people they know without realizing that Facebook stored their address book for future reference. I'm not sure those options were there when I did it but it's not readily apparent that Facebook going to store the addresses. It also makes you wonder what other services do when we give them access to our address books.

Re: Negativity -> On the Verge of Something Greater

Nile Aw, you're so sweet. Will It Affect YOUR Twitter Experience?

Some people are confused about what they changed. People can still get @ replies from people they don't follow and can send @ replies to people who don't follow them. I've gotten many in response to my #fixreplies messages.

What they are calling a feature used to be the default behavior. I never changed mine so I was always getting all replies. Watching the one sided conversations and checking out the other person is how I found the majority of the people I follow (including Corvida). Now people who are very conversational, I can't see at all. It doesn't matter who they are talking to, I want to see it. Recently the "majority" of people don't use this feature - the only reason for which is that the new default was to set it off.

I read somewhere that the average new Twitter user abandons the account after 30 days. I'm wondering if it's because they don't get to see all the conversations that are going on and get bored. A former classmate of mine joined Twitter a few months ago, I suggested she follow some of the people that I talk to. I had no clue that she couldn't even see the conversations.

I'm not for it only because they took it away. I actually used this functionality. Removing it takes away a good deal of the value of Twitter.

Re: Twitter as Travel Advisory System

Thanks. There's no context for the links that are flying into Twitter and some have all of their "Likes" and comments sent to Twitter as well. I've seen 10 FriendFeed tweets back to back. I'm fine with the blip.fm links because most of the time they aren't all together. I'm also fine with Twitterfeed if you don't send any more than one of two tweets at a time.

Re: F*CK YOU @TWITTER! When I hit my API limit on TweetDeck it still allows me to post but I just can't see anything new. I think the reason you're having trouble though has to do with whatever technical difficulties Twitter is having right now. In the past few days, I've had periods where I couldn't get anything and had to use the web interface.

Re: BBC Says Destroy Your Hard Drive Before Selling Computer

I agree with Dahni-El. A full disk wipe (not a reformat) is sufficient to destroy all data on the drive. As far as Windows tools, be careful what you use because most of the tools available online (especially the free ones) don't do exactly what they say they do. With a Mac or anything else Unix-based, a carefully constructed dd command can do this for you.

Re: Business Cards Hit the Cloud with DubMeNow

I attended the event as well and wondered the same thing about having the big launch where a significant portion of the crowd could not use their app. I have and iPhone as well. The thing that I didn't get is that there is no web interface either. When I go to their site from my iPhone it tells me that there's no app for my phone instead of just showing me the website.

Re: The Real Sarah Palin

I shudder to think that this woman could have been Vice President. I think that she did everything that they told her to do and that she's being thrown under the bus right now. What they don't realize is that these criticisms of her go more against McCain's judgement than they do against Palin's character. After all he picked her.

From the time he picked her, I kept expecting that she would resign the campaign due to family reasons (or something). That way McCain would still get credit for having picked a woman but that he could then have his more experienced male choice. Boy was I wrong but it would have been a good pump fake.

I think we are going to see this woman again in 2012. She'll probably be studying up in the meantime. I hope we remember what we have witnessed with this election as we Americans tend to have short memories about these kinds of things.

Re: David Letterman grills John McCain

You are absolutely right. The worst kind of racist is the subtle racist because you don't know. Feldman is blatant but many who are defending him probably have the same ideals as him. For me enabling and defending makes them complicit as well.

My problem with this is that people are saying it was funny to them and that political correctness is evil. Has any one of those people looked at it from the other point of view to realize that people are geniunely offended?
