the web makes my life better by keeping me in contact with more people than I would ever be able to touch without it. My favorite way to spread happiness is by randomly reaching out to friends, even if we haven't seen each other in 15+ years. It always makes me happy when old friends take the time to tweet/comment/message/etc me -- I try to share that happiness as much as I can.

Thanks for sharing this. I've seen you continue growing your business -- and the great response to all of your hard work. I can only imagine how difficult it has been trying to balance developing good relationships with discouraging more aggressive approaches to interning.

I appreciate your honest and candid approach on how you work. I think it's great insight for people who are looking to "be your intern" or at least develop a relationship with you. It's always worth asking, but I read it as:
it should be clear from all the great things *they are already doing* that *you* should be working with *them*.

Asking is one thing -- showing through action is entirely different.

Kudos for taking such an open approach. That's one of the reasons I love collaborating with you!

I use DropBox (http://getdropbox.com) to backup my files because it lets me keep a copy on my laptop and on their servers. I use http://tweetake.com/ once a month to grab all my tweets and save them off to a DropBox folder so they'll be backed up. All my Flickr photos are in my DropBox folders before they even get uploaded to Flickr, so I have a backup of everything I need except for Facebook.

Thanks for the advice Brian. It's so easy to forget about passion when you're thinking about paying the bills. Great reminder!

Ben, I know it's been years since we worked together, but you were always dedicated, knowledgeable, and a great person to work with. I wonder if you're going through a similar questioning of ability and experience like I am. If you need any help with your hunt or resume, let me know. I've seen you tackle bigger challenges than this in the past--stay positive!
