The description I wrote which you mentioned was written when I started the blog back in early 2007. It was that concept (primarily the aggreagation of 3rd party services on a single page) that was being developed that I latched on to. Now it seems that it is harder to define as many different people see Lifestreaming in different ways. I think it's still primarily referenced with regards to aggregation, but it's now going down many vertical paths that include brandstreaming, storystreaming, travelstreaming, and countless others. I don't know if we'll ever get to a standard industry definition because of this. Although I'm not so concerned with an industry definition as much as I am a open standard that can be adopted like RSS. Right now the closest thing to that is the ActivityStrea.ms initiative.

Re: YouTube to Live Stream U2 Concert

I will be at this concert which is at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. I don't agree with #8 though. There is still plenty of valuable tech news I get from my followers that never makes it to Techmeme. I'm a bit neurotic about missing stuff so there still needs to be a better mechanism to obtain that info. Twitter Times which I heard about today on TC appears to offer a nice way to do this which brings me to #11. This is what needs to happen next. Whoever comes up with the best way to mine our social graph data to provide utility by implementing smart algorithms is gonna clean up. I can't wait.

Re: Custom Lifestream Gallery #15

Thanks for the info Clayton. I totally agree that the self-discipline required to capture the data needs to be as simple as possible. Stopping myself from gorging food into my mouth is one thing, but having to meticulously count calories and type them into a device can be even more painstaking. Hopefully these methods to capture data will improve and I also think that this aspect of Lifestreaming will probably end up being the most beneficial for people.

Re: Lifestream Wordpress Theme Released by Press 75

Mahendra, I really like Storytlr but don't think it's a fair comparison to a self-hosted Wordpress blog. They each have their own set of pros and cons. With Wordpress you have quite a bit more control and flexibility than using a hosted service.

Re: My Thoughts on Posterous as a Lifestreaming Platform

You're welcome, but I'm sure some will still have questions as it can still be a little difficult to grasp.

Re: My Thoughts on Posterous as a Lifestreaming Platform

I'm not sure what you mean by end result but the first method allows importing from a limitless number of 3rd party services that offer an RSS feed while the second requires you to post everything yourself using 3 defined methods. My goal was both to explain to people who understood the original Lifestreaming model of aggregating services to those considering and confused by the role Posterous played, as well as educating people that hadn't heard of Lifestreaming to understand the differences.

Re: My Thoughts on Posterous as a Lifestreaming Platform

Your thoughts on the ability to filter on a per service basis bring up issues I've heard others discuss as well. Usually as it pertains to taming the firehose. I think the next phase of Lifestreaming will be the creation of intelligent algorithms that analyze the massive amount of data we are creating and add some features around it. I already could see that an intelligent recommendation engine for products and services could be built around my social graph...and even be geo specific. But one to automatically filter noise based on content determination will be a bit trickier.

Re: My Thoughts on Posterous as a Lifestreaming Platform

I was hoping the visual would bring clarity.
