I think the product itself, the copy, and the presentation all factor into what is deemed credible/genuine.

I think if you're about to purchase an item like, say, a diamond ring--the crappy page wouldn't fly. I think conversions would go down. That said: I have learned to trust the test results over my belief every time. :)

Re: The Woman Who Paid Me $1 Million In Affiliate Revenue Teaches You About Affiliate Programs. - With Lisa Riolo

The business owners that approach affiliate marketing with long term objectives do (typically) build solid, sustainable profits. I think the reason for the "quick buck" perception is that there are plenty of Internet Marketers hyping their own "Business in a Box" get-rich-quick-through-affiliate-marketing products.

I know of many business owners with 5-10 year old businesses where the revenue being generated comes primarily from performance-based advertising.

Re: Minnesota Affiliates Where Are You?

If you are in MN and want yourvoice heard and your story told, start with a comment here. You guessed right that I do get impatient, consistently, when in certain situations. But it is a type of stupid. Stupidity based on laziness or disrespect. I do okay when someone is not capable. I don't have patience for either deliberate neglect or not trying. That drives me nuts! I struggle to reset by expectations even when I know no amount of persuading will trigger a positive response. But I still try to get my patience on. ;)

Re: Priority You

I think about those simple instructions a lot. I wasn't convinced I could give up real books especially for the small screen. I am more interested now that I am adapting to the iPhone. It sounds like a hefty price if you are an average consumer of reading materials. But if you wear the label "avid resder" then the possibility of an ROI seems greater.

I have high hopes that we'll see brawn with the beauty

Re: Clean Data - Why it’s important to honor coupon policies.

Jamie: This is a topic of growing importance, especially given our current economic conditions.

There are a lot of issues around the pros and cons of "coupons"--for both Merchants and Affiliates. What you illustrate so well is that coupons are not always intended as a basic consumer discount. Which is why the conversation between Merchant and Affiliate is so important. Both partners need to share and understand the other's objectives and objections. If Merchants and Affiliates would cooperate, the "black hats" in the crowd would stand out more than they do today.

Another tip for merchants is that they should spend more time showing affiliates what they are doing to improve the conversions of the visitors that are being sent over by their performance partners. One reason affiliates tend to grab and promote a coupon code is because it might help improve conversion rates. If the merchant has other programs designed to help convert new visitors--the coupon code would seem less important.

Re: How To Renew Your Energy.

Thanks, Tony, for stopping by to comment. Clutter = distractions. Since focusing is our objective, we must avoid distractions.

I think Po Bronson's books have been on my To Read list for way too long without getting to one of them.
