I was a huge Packers fan the entire time Favre played there but after the way they handled him leaving, I was done. Favre is my favorite athlete of all-time and I think he is one of the best football players ever. He is definitely the most fun to watch.

To be fair there was a lot of support and positive signs for Favre there but it should have been more. I can understand not doing it before the game, but afterwards there should have been a deafening standing ovation.

I think many of the fans were sick with the realization they made a mistake letting him go.

Roger and Randy both in their 30s were asking on the podcast if there were any TV shows or films that spoke to their life now, like Ferris Bueller (or similar films) did then. I'm the same age and the first film that came to my mind was Clerks 2. If you are a geek and in your early to mid 30s I can almost guarantee you will connect to that film. Most people will enjoy it on some level, it's a very funny film but it works on another level for people of that age. Clerks 2 is the best example I can think of that captures this time in my life and pop culture.

Looks like the competition is starting to pay off already. Like many of the other posters, I'm already getting a better deal than this. I pay between $95 and $100 a month total with 6 gigs data, 600 daytime minutes, my 5 canada wide, unlimited mms, and visual voicemail. The lesson of this post is don't pay the advertised price anywhere, negotiate yourself a better deal.

Off topic, this blog is in desperate need of some CSS tweaking, the text of the posts and comments are too small.

This is a great app. It was part of last years Machesit bundle so I've been using it since then. I'm glad they added the voicemail feature that was the only thing it was missing.

I know Bush is the boogeyman for many liberals but he is so cool. I hope he uses Twitter.

I'm surprised the reaction hasn't been more negative. I guess the fact that Obama now supports most of Bush's policies means people have to respect him now.

Not to be contrary but I've had some rough, but overall, very satisfactory experiences with Bell, although the Bell World people are hit and miss. Ranging from very helpful to completely uninterested drones.
I'm hoping that the Bell plan I have on my Touch can, in some form, be transferred to the iPhone when I'm ready to upgrade.
I was never ready to pay the $80+ that Rogers demanded for a complete iPhone experience.
Here's hoping.

_Now_ we are on the same page! We are both Demanding More for Less.. . from whomever will deliver. And keep them guessing as to where we take our business. I owe NO allegiance to any BRAND! I'll NEVER sing the praises of one or the other when it comes to cell carriers.

2 year contracts would be way better. Don't miss my point, consumers and voters need to pressure the mobile carriers and the government to stop the monopolistic practices in Canada. My only point is contracts aren't always bad and can make sense. I'm no Rogers fan believe me, I begrudgingly signed with them to get my hands on an iPhone. I have been pleasantly surprised by their service but they have a long way to go.

Ok.. how about if we as consumers can force 2 yrs contracts like AT&T in the states offers. _Would_ not that be better?

Please stop being defensive about YR brand and go with Principals ;-) ... trust me ... it will be better for ALL of us. Keep the TELCOS on their toes. Force choices .. .we all win. Never say Never. With your number now being transportable you can hop around to WHOEVER gives YOU the best price. For example lets demand 2 yr contracts Max.

PS there is another GSM carrier coming on stream shortly.. more choices...

I'm all for empowering the customer but signing a contract doesn't automatically make it a bad deal. In my case its a good deal. I've dealt with the other companies and they are far worse than Rogers. I guess there is a small risk for me that Bell or Telus suddenly become awesome companies but I don't see it happening.

My point was to empower the consumer... and to make the telco bend to offer lower prices. Forget the Brand... look at PRICE!

I would rather have the latest iPhone with a 6 gig data plan than fly anywhere. I respect your way of doing things but we're not fools because we spend our money differently than you.

I didn't like contracts before the iPhone because the phones weren't worth it. Now I save $500 on the price off the phone in exchange for being locked into a service that I would never consider canceling anyway. It's a no brainer for me.

It will be interesting if Bell has iPhone only plans like Rogers did. Remember Rogers had reasonable unlimited data plans before the iPhone but then created special iPhone data plans. Even if you had an existing dara plan you couldn't switch it to an iPhone.

I wouldn't get too excited yet. First, all these articles are speculation based on Bell now being able to support the iPhone, it doesn't mean they can do a deal with Apple or that Rogers doesn't have an exclusive like AT&T. Second, Bell is terrible. Their customer service is by far the worst of any mobile company and their network stinks (maybe the new one will be better). The good thing is the competition might put downward pressure on the the pricing which is desperately needed in Canada. I have an iPhone on Rogers and I'm thrilled with every aspect of it except the price.

Rogers and Fido in Canada don't have a policy against VOIP but none of the
Apps currently work on 3G, if AT&T allows it than Skype will remove the restriction on the App and you will be able to use VOIP over 3G in Canada on Rogers or Fido.

Have you ever dealt with Bell? I have had nothing but trouble with them, and it wasn't an isolated incident, friends and family had the exact same experience. Be prepared to have major billing problems. The network service is terrible in Ontario but that may be taken care of with their new network. Right now, where I live you can get five bars with Rogers where you can't get one with Bell.

I still have my doubts. All these articles seem to be based on the fact that the new Bell network is capable of using the iPhone, it doesn't mean Rogers doesn't have an exclusive or that Bell can make a deal with Apple.

I hope Bell does get the iPhone because competition is good, but I won't switch. Bell is a horrible company with the worst customer service I've ever dealt with. Rogers prices are too high, but the customer service has been excellent and the network has been great except for a few months at the beginning of this summer.

I don't know if I buy that. Apple originally promoted web apps, and still does on Apple.com. They also make more money selling the phone than they do on the 30% commission on the apps. If mobile flash works on other phones, and web apps explode it will be in Apple's best interest to include it. I personally prefer most native apps over the web apps, so I only miss video right now. I think all of this will be moot because of html 5, quicktime works awesome on the iPhone.

Apple isn't concerned about 'performance issues'. Apple is concerned about a massive explosion of browser-based flash apps that do the same thing if not more than 90% of the apps in the appstore. It's a money thing, nothing less, nothing more.

I know I'm going to sound like an Apple apologist but the Flash performance on my 2.0 gHz dual core Mac is suspect, so I can see why Apple is concerned about performance issues. Flash is buggy and a resource hog, and so far has been unusable on phones and portable devices. If Adobe makes a version that runs well on the iPhone and Apple still doesn't include it than we have a problem.

That is great news. The web interface is pretty terrible and the current batch of iPhone apps have limited features. I use Diggle for the iPhone and it is good for reading and sharing articles via email or Twitter, but it doesn't allow you to digg or comment.
